SEC likely to stay at 8 conference games...

Interesting article. Did Mizzou really think they'd get preferential treatment in this conference? They can kiss Texas recruiting good-bye. After a couple of years, they'll long for the Big XII. Also, 10 years between playing some conference foes? Wow...

They will eventually kiss Texas recruiting goodbye, but for now they are off to a fast start in-state, which is something they have rarely been able to do previously.

Missouri is big enough that if they can dominate the KC and StL area, they will more than compensate for their losses in Texas.

Also, they've pulled some good kids out of Iowa in the past 5 years.

They have a new girl (SEC) that recruits love, but when they suck, the recruits won't want to go there.

They will look back at the decision to leave as one of the worst ever. The TAM move did even less good for the SEC. If anything, it just spreads the resouces out, adding those two teams did nothing to help the league. Also, no wonder SEC schedules are so favored in the win column, almost all of them schedule cupcakes. Props to the BIG 10 if they are going to keep the 9 game schedule and a PAC-10 game. Of course that does put the Iowa-ISU game at risk.

The 9-game conference schedule for the B1G is dead and gone. They are sticking with 8, plus trying to get a PAC12 matchup for each team each season, eventually.

I suppose part of this goes along with having the BTN, but for those who say the networks won't stand for the Big XII "losing inventory" by going back to 8 conference games, does this change anything?

Southeastern Conference - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A lot of wrong info in that article. Mizzou and Aggy are cross rivals and the Big 10 has already reversed its decision for 9 conference games when they made the scheduling alliance with the PAC 12.

If the Big 12 does add FSU and Clemson, personally I want to stay at 9 conference games. Make the season more interesting and although I love the win against cupcakes, I'd much rather see ISU play Texas Tech or Oklahoma State.

This is why you don't go past 12 teams...it turns into a scheduling nightmare.

Biggest winner in all of this: South Carolina. If they end up being A&M's protected rival, they will have games in talent rich states of Florida and Georgia and also a game in Texas every other year. Spurrier will love rubbing that in Florida, UGA and Tennessee's faces.

Re: SEC likely to stay at 8 conference games...

If I was Mizzou, I start looking into scheduling non conference games with Texas schools. I'm sure the Big 12 Texas teams will tell them to screw off but start calling SMU, Houston, Rice, North Texas, Texas State...anything to keep a presence down there. I have no idea why Nebraska didn't do the same

Again, South Carolina is not paired with Aggy. USC is with Arkansas. The cross division rivals have already been announced.

Oh really? Here's a snippet from the article "South Carolina reportedly will be Texas A&M's annual crossover opponent, while Mizzou's will be Arkansas"
