If you schedule your wedding on a holiday weekend...

you're a self absorbed A-hole. And everyone will secretly hate you for having to burn their extra day off work on your nuptials, instead of going somewhere fun over the holiday.

and for the love of god if you decide to double down and have that holiday wedding AND no open bar, god have mercy on your soul.

Better to have it on a holiday weekend than any weekend in the Fall.

I wouldnt complain if it was open bar for only a couple hours of the reception and then free keg. But to have a completely open bar can get quite costly so I dont expect any one I attend to have one, its just a huge bonus if they do.

Just a FIFY/FYI for the soon to be engaged.

Prepay some drinks for everyone and then have a keg or two available.

I'll take an away game wedding in the fall over a 3 day weekend in the summer all day.

home games, you're not getting a gift and I'm not going.

And have you thought about the reason for them scheduling a wedding in a holiday weekend to be so you have a little longer with family maybe. Or just to have a little more time. Sounds like you may be the selfabsorbed a-hole for thinking about what you want and not what others may enjoy.

I really don't mind when weddings are scheduled, as long as it isn't during a home football game.

No scott 34. He is right. Holiday weekends are for us. Not for people to decide you have to go to there wedding. I always schedule vacation on those weekends. Not a wedding guy on long weekends. Op is right.

Im not saying I agree with weddings on holidays, was playing the role of devils advocate. Just looking at both sides.

    Here are some real FYIs.

Don't have a wedding reception at a place that actually tracks the drinks they serve or a place where you have to buy the kegs. That's the sign of a cheap place.

Don't have a wedding reception anywhere the drinks can cost more than the food. That's another sign of a cheap place.
