    Travel advice through Io_a

Sorry about the missing w, once the Ha_ks earn it back on the court or field, I will add it back.

I am attending a wedding of a friend's daughter in Sioux City this coming summer. Would the best way to get there from the northern suburbs of Chicago be to take Route 20 or the Reagan to Route 30 and then head north to Route 20?

Route 20 looks like major towns along the way are Dubuque, Waterloo and Fort Dodge. I may spend a day in Galena and then Route 20 would be a pretty straight shot to Sioux City. Alternatively, I could take Route 30 and then go north at some point, and Route 30 would take me by Cedar Rapids, Marshalltown and Ames. Which one is more scenic? Which one has more interesting things and better restaurants along the way? Any recommendations for must see things on either 20 or 30?

    TIA,

    WW

20 is the most scenic, but only along the Mississippi River. There is not much to see in Illinois or Iowa once you are away from the river. In fact, in Iowa, 20 is pretty barren most of the way.

30 has more to see and do. It actually has commercial development, unlike most of 20.

You can easily visit UNI from 20, ISU from 30, or Iowa from 80.

Sioux City is a long drive on 30 or 20 (some two lane sections). When I come from Chicago, I take 88 to 80 all through Iowa. You might want to find your things to do near Sioux City and along the Missouri River. Or know what you want to see and get off 80 to see them along the way.

    Re: Travel advice through Io_a

20 would be the fastest and most direct. The drive from the North burbs to Dubuque is pretty scenic but the rest of the route would be pretty boring because it is flat and I feel there really isn't much in between Dubuque and Waterloo as far as good stops.

30 would probably be a slighly longer route but I think it might be a little more enjoyable. Also this route would take you to Ames which I don't know why you wouldn't want to stop there.

20 between Fort Dodge and Sioux City blooooooooows. Be prepared.

Definitely stop off in Galena though, was there 2 weeks ago. I have a great time every time I'm there.

Neither route is very scenic. Just go the fastest route. You will think both ways are terribly boring.

_hat in the name of ******* is going on here? Holy ******. Email Pollard, he kno_s the way around the state. Don't email Royce _hite because he _on't really try to help (he _on't even s_eat _hen thinking about it.) _hen you are here, stop by CycloneEriks house. He has a ton of Ukrainian brides that he shares _ith every Ha_k hater. Don't forget to pull a Sarah Hoke, you'll have everyone on Cyclone Fanatic asking to be your Facebook friend. If you get pulled over, pour a drink out in front of the cop for your dead homie, Officer Gibbons.

For best results, do this trip _hile your _ife is at _ork and kids are at school. There is nothing better than leaving the kids at school, trust me.

Could always take I-80 to Counciltucky then take I-29 up to Sewer City if you are in no rush.

I would take 80, 680(cut North of Council Vegas, through the hills) to 29....hate driving 20 and 30 sometimes. I prefer driving 74 MPH constantly....that just me though.
