    Top Target Decision Dates

We have 1 available scholarship for 2012 and anywhere from 5-7 available for 2013. Here are some of our main targets and their decision dates:

Jared Uthoff will decide in early June
Dorian Finney-Smith will decide sometime in June
Norvel Pelle won't be cleared academically until August and will decide then

Monte Morris will decide by late July/early August.
Matt Thomas will decide by the end of summer.
Terrence Samuel will decide sometime before November.

Anyone else know any other players that we are recruiting that are making their decisions in the near future?

How many times has Thomas Visited? If we at least don't get him... yikes.

Fred likely gave Bubu the scolarship now rather than wait because it was the right thing to do. While it might be nice to save the scolarship for another player, Bubu has played enough to warrant the scolarship. The whole team probably thinks he deserves it. No need to jack him around. It is not like he has been sitting at the end of the bench getting mop up minutes.

Thomas is a must, due to the fact he basically lives in Ames.

Couldn't agree more. He might not start, but I think he's proven his worth. His stats per minutes played I would think are pretty commendable. And he doesn't turn the ball over much.

Right on. And respect for the coach is a must for a good team and if Fred wouldn't have given Bubu that scholly, there would've been some animosity in the locker room.

I think we have the best shots at landing Uthoff and Thomas. If Uthoff signs we know that Finney-Smith and Pelle are out. I'm not sure why we didn't wait until all our targets have made their decisions before we gave Bubu the scholarship. Matt Thomas would be a great first sign to start off the class of 2013.

Anyone else know any other players that we are recruiting hard that are making their decisions in the near future?
The reason Bubu got the schollie now. ISU is not going to get Finney-Smith, and they are not going hard after Pelle and is is said is a longshot to qualify. Therefore there is only one person for next year they have a chance with and two scholarships.

Plus bubu is a proven commodity to our team and has already proven his worth, and his worth is a free college education.

I believe McKay is planning to make a decision in the fall - October comes to mind. Recently, a nugget came out about his short list - ISU is in it seems, along with Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Memphis, and Wichita St.

Good find. McKay would be a great replacement for Clyburn. I want this kid more than anyone else we are recruiting in the 2013 class.

Yeah you are probably right about Finney-Smith. I think he is Florida bound. I think Pelle is academically ineligible/San Diego State bound. Hopefully Uthoff is Iowa State bound to fill the last scholarship!

Didn't Finney-Smith plan to take some visits? Where were they (besides Florida ?) Didn't know the door was for sure closed already.

I'm not counting on Uthoff any more than Finney-Smith.
