    Amazon.com: DVDs

    I was looking on Amazon today at DVDs and noticed that you can get a lot of good movies for pretty cheap. Does anyone on here buy movies off of there? If so, how is the quality. I buy a lot of other things on Amazon.com, but kind of want to start getting movies now.

    I buy Blu-Ray's off there (a lot better quality than DVD! ). I haven't had any problems with them. I normally save $5-$10 buying from there.

    Yes, I have heard the hype on Blu-Ray. I can't wait until I reach a point in my life where I can spend $500 on a DVD player. That will be a good day, I hope they come down in price soon!!

    Blu-Ray is not worth the $$. I have an high quality upscaling dvd player, and watching good replicas is impressive. I cannot tell the difference between "Meet the robinsons" upscaled on my tv and the blu-ray demo I saw.

    I buy at half.com as well as amazon. I actually have gotten better shipping on half.com per movie. Amazon is good if you buy over 25 bucks because you normally get free shipping.

    With all due respect, the 480p video on a DVD is simply not comparable to the 1080p or better that a HD format disc carries. Upscaling helps, but playing them side-by-side you'll notice a significant difference.

    At any rate, nothing at all wrong with buying DVDs from Amazon. I buy quite a few from amazon.co.uk, and they are no different than what you'd buy at the store.

    I am sure there is a difference if you put them side by side, but it is not worth the $500+ for the player and the extra $10 per movie. It is not like the difference between SD and HD.
