    Meyer

Last night he showed us why he's the best QB in the Big 12. Making the good reads when passing (68%) and taking off when he needed to...and without hesitation.

3 rushing TD's...2 passing and a 2-point conversion on the ground...I love that out of our starting QB.

Meyer looked great. He's really matured and is making great decisions.

Also loved--Rawshon Parker and Alvin Bowen. Those kids were EVERYWHERE!

Agreed. Meyer has become a MAN!

Those QB draws were a thing of beauty. Execution was perfect...the blocking was excellent, Meyer hit the holes fast and the play just kept working like a charm.

Fitch said at the ISU coaching clinic back in April we would see Meyer use his feet a lot more in '06 (he blamed himself for the lack of this and the poor execution when Meyer did run last year).

    Fitch wasn't lying!

I also though Meyer was pretty flawless last night. I can't really think of a really bad throw he made all night. Aside from overthrowing Sumrall in the south endzone he was on target all night, and always seems to make really good decisions with the ball.

It would have been ridiculous if he'd of completed that pass. Tough ball...either Sumrall was getting it or no one was. Another thing I like about Meyer.

Now if we can just get Barkema to hold ointo the ball. His fumble was ridiculous - he was trying to put the moves and, he, being a tank, forgot to bring the ball into his body. Meyer quit throwing to Barkema after that devastating fumble. Good move. Walter Nickel may soon be the starter.

I thought Meyer looked great too. Heard last night driving home that Meyer only had one rushing TD last season and he tripled that number in this seasons first game. Hold on to your hats Clone fans, this is going to get exciting.

    Time out.

Did you see the play? Watch a replay of it?

Barkema had it tucked tightly into his left hand-n-bicept. The defenders helmet was right ON the ball. 9 times out of 10, when a helmet hits the ball...the ball will come out.

While I did not like the fumble...those types of things are going to happen and ya can't blame the guy. It's not like he just dropped it or got stripped. That was a perfect hit.

That fumble was not Barkema fault, it gets tough to hold on to the ball when it is hit with a helmet.

There are a couple of posters today who have been complaining about the use of too may QB draws, but did they not work? I can understand if Meyer as held or stopped
for a loss on these draws, but I'm pretty sure for the most part the draws were successful. Now, I wasn't there, so maybe the draws looked risky and terrible, but when listening to the broadcast, they sounded like right call at the right time. (Except during that one 3 n out series, that is) So how did Meyer's runs look? Like I said, they sounded great.

Oh...the runs were sick. On 2 of them not a single person touched him. On the last one...Meyer did not get touched until the 2 yard line...when a safety thought he could take down Meyer. Nope. Meyer literally ran him over...flipping the guy back and planting him on his face. No BS. Loved seeing that out of my QB.

I heard the fans in the stands complaining about the draws. One fan complained that we ran the ball...it was in the 3rd quarter. First down and we ran for six setting up 2nd and 4. The fan yelled "Quit running Dan!"

I yelled back..."We just got six yards!"

    I hate stupid people.

Is it too early to start a Brett Meyer for Heisman campaign? He'll get it if he can get 5 TD's every game. He looked HELLA poised out there. Can't wait for next week.

I hope it was not my imagination, but Brett looked A LOT faster last night. Also, his arm is A LOT stronger. He was vastly improved in every aspect of his game. The o line looked really good for the most part but could be better. Also, Stevie Hicks was the man. H did miss that one block, but he SMOKED guys almost every play. He is so important to the passing game with his blocking. It was not what I expected, but Toledo was better than expected as well. Go Cyclones!!!
