    ISU/ CHIZIK FUTURE

What do you think ISU's program will look like in years 3-5? This obviously is all speculation, but based on his resume, coaching staff, and recruiting thus fa... I am really anxious to get past the next year or two until his recruits really become a vital part of ISU football.

I am thinking we will start to have a legit shot at a Big 12 North Championship in two years.

    Re: ISU/ CHIZIK FUTURE

3-5 years should get you competitive to have a shot at a title. It takes a long time to build a football program, and we are likely looking at a 1 win season this year. Next year lets hope to get to 4+ wins, then in 2009 you can hope for 7-8, and then 2010 would be when you can START thinking about competiting for the north. Anything before 2010 is coach of the year type material.

I'm thinking a World Series is not out of the question.

    Also, a Triple Crown.

right now he's playing with the hand that was dealt to him.
in 4 more years, no more excuses... he'll be playing with all of his players. Certainly in a couple more years, he should have an impact team with "better than this year" results.

With the talent pool in the north, I think that with a continually good recruiting class this year, we should be competing for the north in 2 years....We really need to start stealing some guys from the south next year to compete for Big XII championships with the south and win some big non-conference games. Another Florida State game wouldn't be to much to ask for would it?

Yes, and I've heard the new baseball uniforms will not have Cy on the batting helmets, will feature a lot of navy and white, and will have fire engine red and sunshine yellow as primary colors.

The baseball team will share a brand new multi-sport practice facility with the newly-added varsity men's hockey team, women's bowling, women's rifle and women's equestrian.
This facility will be constructed on the current site of the marching band's practice area, forcing them to move outdoor rehearsals off campus completely, possibly to Gilbert. That way they don't disturb any poor engineering or design students (or Helser residents, if you go back that far).

All of this will happen in the next 4 months, thanks to large donations from the wealthy foreign dignitaries who constantly e-mail me asking to help them convert their fortune to American dollars in exchange for a small fee and some personal information.

The complex will be named "Roger Sprague Athletic Complex" and will feature several "I am welcome to ISU" signs, along with reminders in every locker to be "Tuff as Rain" on a daily basis.

I'll make sure that a little "TM" or "R" is put on the signs. Money is no object.

As much progress has been made to date, I think you have to think Big 12 titles in 5 years.

While I'm certainly not down on this year's team, "progress to date" is 1 win over a bad team in a rivalry game and a recruiting class that so far is only marginally better than most of Mac's.

I'd love to think that we'd be playing for Big 12 titles in 5 years, but that's pretty far fetched at the moment based on what we've seen so far.

That being said, I think we'll be playing for Big 12 North titles in 4 or 5 years, and if not that, at LEAST going to some mid tier bowl games.

I think if we aren't sniffing bowl games next year and going to at least SOME bowl the year after, it'll be a bit of a disappointment.
