    DT recruiting.....

Does anyone know why we havent offered this kid??? I know his downside is intensity, and maybe thats it, but some very good schools are also interested in him, and its unusual to see a rated player at a position with 0 schollies at this point....Other issues????

This is one position that i hope Chiz and staff sign some guys....we have young ends, and 2-3 years our ends will be lights out....But, if you don't have the big fellas in the middle to consume 1-2 blockers, then lineman are getting off the line and taking out linebackers and suddenly we have DB's trying to stop RB running down the field...

It all starts with the O-line and D-line and our O-line recruiting has gone very well IMO but the middle of the D is lacking...i love to get a couple of LEADERS on our team and suddenly our ends applying pressure becomes sacks and 3rd down completions become interceptions or incompletions....

Get the big uglies Chiz, we know they're the key to an awesome D....

Yea, I think the intensity thing might have quite a bit to do with it. Chizik is a maximum effort guy, and someone with a reputation of being lazy probably turns him off.

A possiblity could be he has grade problems I don't know if that is true it is the reason I assumed that schools haven't offered him.

Lack of intensity might be code words for poor grades?

I think we will see some of the Defensive Ends get turned into tackles with Sheppard.

    Re: DT recruiting.....

Not to rip on the guy, but a 5.22 40 for his size doesn't exactly bring to mind thoughts of "explosiveness" like the article says. I know there's more to speed and athleticism than just a forty yard dash, but that's slower than many offensive linemen that are 20-30 pounds heavier. I also wonder where the intensity negative comes from. Is there a coach out there that would say that to a recruiting service about a player? Ouch.

    Re: DT recruiting.....

Maybe he meant "lack of intensity" like Greg Oden. . . Good at the sport, but isn't a "fire-'em-up" type of leader like his coach wants him to be.

    Re: DT recruiting.....

He comes from a great Oklahoma High School Team in Midwest city. Class 5A State Champions last year. Seen a few TV highlights of the team. Pierre Alexander is listed as 6'1"/301 on the Carl Albert High School website. There are probably better Big XII prospects on this team. This one of the best High School websites I've seen.

Home of the Titans! Carl Albert High School Football's Official Website

There are three other really good seniors on the same team I hope we are talking to. Not sure where any of these kids are ranked as far as recruiting or if they have committed to a school.

    Joe Stoner, 5' 11''/212 FB/QB/DB

    Kalub Berry, 6' 2"/225 DE/TE

Craig Turbyfill, 5' 8"/150 PK (kicks the ball through the endzone).

If he ran 5.10, we might offer him.
