They're aren't going to let us ruin the field unless we're storming it!

Turf replaced by natural grass. Also they had to remove the south end zone seating for the stage and the seats there now are permanent.

I agree though, it was a great place to see show. I saw McCartney, Genesis and U2. Never saw Floyd there which is a huge regret of mine.

    Grass?

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

It's also a cost / venue thing. Pretty much can't make money as a promoter in central Iowa off of a big act unless you use the Well. However there are student orgs that are bringing acts to Hilton, like Lupe Fiasco last fall. JTS is probably out, it's just too expensive and wouldn't be cost effective.

I am certain that there was supposed to some sort of cover when the conversion to grass announcement was made...for concerts .

Perhaps we should have U2 show up the next time we beat the #2 ranked team in the nation.

    Re: Concerts in Trice

Back in 2000, the George Strait Country Music Festival was in the stadium. They had quite a few of the big name acts at the time. They have a cover for the turf that's supposed to protect it. I was helping with parking and there was a crew that got called in because the turf cover started coming up. They are pretty anal about the turf.

Ever seen the turf at Soldier Field? I think I can understand them being anal about it.

This would say otherwise. Not completely disagreeing with you, but it made me remember this video. It is dated obviously.
