The Chicago Bears cleared roster space for the seven players who earned contracts after tryouts at rookie minicamp over the weekend by waiving tackle Levi Horn, guard Reggie Stephens and tight end Andre Smith.
The Bears announced Sunday that seven players had agreed to terms on three-year contracts: Wisconsin-Whitewater quarterback Matt Blanchard, Texas Southern wide receiver Joseph Anderson, Illinois State tight end Brandon Venson, Concordia tackle Tyler Hendrickson, Central Florida guard Nick Pieschel, Boston College punter Ryan Quigley and Connecticut kicker David Teggart.
The team needed to release three players to add all seven and remain under the 90-man roster limit. The team currently has 89 players on the roster.
Horn spent most of the last two seasons on the practice squad. Stephens was signed to the practice squad last Nov. 8. Smith was an undrafted free agent from Virginia Tech last season. He spent part of the season on the practice squad.
