    Game of Thrones OPEN DISCUSSION

Feel free to discuss the books and series openly in this thread. If you haven't read the books or don't want spoilers please go to the other thread. Hopefully this will help with the thread getting off topic. Thanks.

Never seen any of these, I should probably try to watch a few.

I've got a couple questions for you guys. In the books did the dragons get stolen? I just read the first two books for a second time and don't remember this happening.

Also, have they condensed Arya's timeline in Harenhall or is there just a lot more to come from her before she leaves? It seems like her story is moving pretty quickly.

Both the books and the HBO version are great. It seems like they are moving away from the books slightly in this season, but they haven't altered anything too much. I highly recommend both.

My buddy downloaded the first season and watched them back-to-back one Sunday. He hadn't read the books and instantly fell in love with it. Sooo much more than dragons, magic, castles, swords, blood, boobs and bush. There is also midgets, bastards, gay scenes, ghosts, wolves, dead things and incest. And to top it off.....Joffrey slapping!

No the dragons did not get stolen. She brought Drogon with her to the Warlock's tower and she ended up burning down a portion of it (it is a pretty trippy sequence to be honest).

As for Arya it is really hard to say how condensed it has been because they have veered so far from the books lately. She spent time working in the kitchens which was definitely skipped over, but I have no idea where they're going from here.

In the books she reluctantly agreed to sell 2 of the dragons to buy passage and soldiers to go to Westeros - that turned out to be an awesome series of events.

I don't recall the dragons ever being stolen - then again a lot happens over the last 3 books.

I cannot wait until they get to the Red Wedding...

Re: Game of Thrones OPEN DISCUSSION

They are veering way off of the second book. The conversation between Lord Tywin and Arya about M'Lord vs. My Lord was taken directly out of A Dance with Dragons that occurred between two completely different characters and circumstances. Also, the Jon Snow story line has now taken a big turn.

To me it makes sense to do this. Things happen very slowly in the books, and to keep the interesting they will have to change some things. The fourth book is not going to make good tv as almost all of the character lines disappear. I liked a Dance with Dragons, but still we have no Daenarys Stormborn in Westeros. Also, we completely lost the Sansa storyline and I am really interested in how that is going to play out.

The series will have seven books, and it may take a while for the last two to be written. Who knows how long they want the series to go on. I don't think you can just count on seven seasons, but I hope it could go longer. Love it.

I'm still not sure how they are going to get all the action from the Blackwater into these supposed last two episodes. I will be ****** if they skip out on a lot of that.

Close to the books or not, I am trying to take the series at face value. Both are extremely entertaining and have to be different to succeed. All I care about is that they keep kicking total ***, which is no problem so far.

There are three episodes left, the promo for next week made an error. From what they say, the Blackwater will be the most epic battle sequence ever in a TV show, so it should be awesome.

I agree. The series should be enjoyed as a separate entity from the books, assuming they hit the major plot points. I think they've done a good job of adapting the source material so far.

The last 3 episodes should be very action packed. Blackwater is the next episode, written by GRRM himself.

Blackwater is episode 9. "The Price of Winterfell" or something like that is next weeks episode.

Thank you for clarifying that, my wife and I were both like, "whhhaaaaaaaaaaa?" when we heard only two left. Number 9 should be one for the ages by the sound of it.
