    Any Recommendations

I am in need of a laptop. Most of my friends have a macbook pro but I just don't like the set up of it. Does anyone have a recommendation on another laptop? I am looking to spend 1,000.

You live in Kansas City. Think you dumb ape.

Go to best buy - buy the cheapest laptop there. Make sure you back up everything regularly. When it craps out on you in 2 years or less buy another one.

Here's a 6 month old thread on the topic. I imagine much of it is still apt. In it, I talked about how purchasing a macbook pro has been worthwhile for me, purely because of the greater hardware durability and improved battery life relative to lower-end HPs that I've owned. I've never owned a PC with similar specs to my mac, so I don't have a true basis for comparison, but my personal judgment is that buying a macbook pro is $1,200 well-spent dollars, IMHO.
