Preserved WWII plane found in desert

Thought this was pretty interesting in how well preserved the crashed plane is, so I thought I would share

Yeah, especially the deserts and the depths of the Black Sea (I think that's the one).

You want to go treasure hunting?

I thought it was interesting that it has just sat there for that long.

Makes you realize just how big the damn desert is. They mention is was 200 miles from basically anything. Amazing. My guess is a death walk in the desert is an awful way to die.

Yeah I would almost put dehydration with burning to death in ways I wouldn't want to die. I think it is cool that they are taking a stab at trying to find his remains when they know it will be a needle in a haystack

edit: so you don't want to go treasure hunting? I recently downloaded sid meier's pirates and have been fairly addicted to that game.

I think its crazy to think in this tiny planet we live on that there are places that havent been visited by humans in 70 years. Its hard to wrap your head around.

The other thing I took from this is the word aeroplane. Is that like a british spelling? Ive never seen that.

It's cool and all, but seriously, comparing this to Tutankhamun's tomb is a bit of a stretch. It's a P-40 Warhawk. I've seen one of these at an air show before. I'm sure there are still blue prints sitting around. Things were discovered in Tut's tomb that completely eveolved the world of Egyptology. Now had it been determined the plane crashed in 1842, now that would be something worth the Hyperbole of the Headline.

You must have missed the meaning of aviation's equivalent

I always thought that archaeologists were funny looking men going around looking for their mommies.
