Will the Capital City League Survive

With the new NCAA ruling allowing more coaching contact...will it impact (eliminate) the Capital City League this year?
Basketball coaches get wish: More player access in summer

If the coaches thought it was okay for players previously, I would expect them to continue to do so. There aren't very many places where players can get summer competition at this level.

UNI pulled out of the Prime Time League to focus as a team on campus. The PTL has reduced to a 4 team league.

The Iowa coaches have asked for fewer games and games only on Sunday.

I wouldn't characterize the Cap City games as "competition". I would call them a glorified all star game but they aren't glorified. This would be 100% better for the development of players both on the court and academically. Awesome news.

I don't know if it will survive. Royce gave it a pretty bit beating last year.

Sounds like it is done if you have to drive down to Des Moines.

I hope it does. I go atleast twice every summer. That would suck if our players quit playing in it.

I leave a mile from the Cap City League, so I went a ton last year. I actually like them and hope that they stick around.

I am not sure why the coaching time AND the Cap City League can't co-exist.

Re: Will the Capital City League Survive

UNI said the reason they were pulling out was that the travel from cedar falls to the PTL games was too much when combined with summer activities and the new coaching time. If travel time is a problem for the ISU players, couldn't they just split it in the middle and have the practices in Ankeny......please!

I really think there is more to it than the "travel." Jake is ****** at the way the whole "Big 4" thing went down, and so what is in it for him to allow UNI players to improve the caliber of play in a league that is run by a hawk flunky?

The sad part was the pos larsen's little blurb about how much playing in the ptl "helped" UNI, but losing half of the reason that there was any competitive development in that league won't affect his beloved hawks....What a load of **** that is.

As far as Cap City, I would assume that since there is no reason for Fred to not let his players drive 30 miles to play pick up games, he won't stop them from doing it.

If I was Jake, I'd never give Larsen the time of day again.
Getting talked down to by people who have won 10 games a season for two of the last three years. It don't get no better than that.

Re: Will the Capital City League Survive

I've seen the Cap City schedule for this summer already and as of now the plan is full slate of games, same Wednesday/Friday/Sunday scheduling they have had in previous years. Six teams like before.

Will be interesting to see how it impacts participation.

Can you provide a link to the schedule? I'd like to plan on going to a couple this summer.

Sounds like the draft was tonight. Not sure if I can get my hands on full rosters or not, but working on it right now.
