    HF1485 (Vikings Stadium Bill) Passes House Vote!

    It was said to be the biggest hurdle in funding the Vikings Stadium, but all was successful tonight in the State House!

    Yeas - 73
    Nays - 58

    The Bill now moves onto the Senate for a likely vote tomorrow.

    What I really want to know now are what the Zygster thinks of the $105 Million increase in the Team's required contribution. $427 Mil was his stated "Maximum contribution."

    I watched portions of the debate and I gotta tell you...some of these representatives just want to watch the world burn! Everything from a "Fireworks" stadium funding amendment to a "free local broadcast of Vikings Games" amendment to a comparison with the 1957 Brooklyn Dodgers leaving?!

    From what I've gathered the $105 is what may be negotiated before the Senate votes tomorrow...

    Kind of a **** move to throw it in there at the last minute...especially when the Gov and the Vikes had a deal in place already...

    As much as they'd love getting hosed by the lost income from losing the Vikings.

    Its kind of a Catch 22 for the area. They either pay more taxes and keep the team and all the economic benefits (like increased tax revenue paid by people coming in) or they pass less taxes and lose out on all that revenue. Not to mention the intangible nature of losing a popular team (its not like the Dome was empty) that is the funnel for a lot of State/Civic pride up there.
