    Recruiting - character issues question....

We've debated on here the ethics of recruiting individuals that may be giving off red flags but sometimes people ignore them....

I suggested that enough time and money cannot really tell you what kind of a kid your getting.....(Case in point for the NFL....Lawrence Phillips, Tony Mandrich, Ryan Leaf) to name a few, all top 5 busts all the physical attributes but the head is screwed up....

This is purely a stereotypical comparison, but, the photos i've seen of a lineman were currently recruiting Christian Molina has a Nascar jacket on....the last time i saw a college player wearing a Nascar jacket it wasn't in the best surroundings - see attached!!!! Sorry SouthernHawk - didnt mean to bring this up again....I did see in KF press conference he told reporters to not forget they've not been proven guilty yet.....let that University of Iowa judge (50 Yd line, Row 2 seats 1,2,3,4) provide his verdict before we pass judgement.....

Re: Recruiting - character issues question....

I think it is very hard to judge character on a young man when recruiting. You can never know if they are a thug who has never been caught or just puts on a show of being a good human being when they are around the coaches.

Hopefully Molina is just a big NASCAR fan

About this thread or about character, I would hope our coaches care about character during recruiting. As far as this thread..nobody

Re: Recruiting - character issues question....

Clones33, you know i dont, i was making a joke about a previous thread discussing the univeristies responsiblity to investigate everything about a recruit....they cant...

i realize this.....They have meetings with the player and his family, and talk with coaches, beyond that, they hope the player can come in and contribute and become a great player in their schemes, they don't spend 50,000 per recruit to do an extensive background check.....some others posted that it was the coaching staffs (KF) responsiblity to do extensive background checks to evaluate a recruits character.

That was the joke, nothing more.....and not a very good one by the look of the posts....

NASCAR fans seem to have the right mind set however... if your not 1st, your last...
