What is the deal with ISU and kickers?

I know a lot of guys have complained that Mac just didn't care about the kickers and didn't want to waste a ride on one, but from what I understand there are 3 kickers getting rides, and it also sounds like Culbetson is clearly the best of the lot! I have seen somewhere that the kicking tee and holding tee are much shorter in college than in HS and this is why some kickers are never as good in college. Well I can't believe that a D-1 coach would offer a scholarship to anyone without seeing what they can do with the college rules, and I can't believe that a kid that want a scholarship is not going to at least take a few kicks with the college limits. At any rate the kicking game is an absolute joke, and fans are not laughing.

We discussed this earlier this week, but we have 3 kickers on scholly... Only one of them was recruited though. The other two, Shaggy and Greighbon (SP?) walked on..

Re: What is the deal with ISU and kickers?

I have always thought that high school rules should be the same, or at least very similar to college rules. It would be beneficial to prep these guys for the college game, not only that, but to give colleges a better idea of who they should be going after. I mean, the tee for field goals, the tee height for kickoffs, and not being able to run kickoffs out of the end zone (the lamest of them all).

What I don't get is why there isn't more practice off of the ground. When I started practicing kicking fieldgoals, I had a friend hold them for me on the ground.

I clicked on this thinking there was going to be a Seinfeld like punch line. No such luck.

Just in case you didn't know... I'm a girl.
