    I know Bolt calls Guyer a lot. He wants to go to Iowa State so it is just a matter of them offering at this point.

    Also word is that he kicked a 63 yarder in practice yesterday. No wind helping him out either. Got the guys out of conditioning

    Sr. kicker from Harlan has a 47 and a 50 yarder this year. Remember that is of a high school pad, but off grass high school turf. He will probably play some basketball some collegiate level next year.

    Saw the Valley Sophmore kicker make a 46 yarder this year. Guyer has a cannon of a leg and he has been workin with a kicking coach. I think he will go with an offer.

    I can't wait to have a better kicker. It's been too long right now. Nothing worse than leaving lots of points on the table and giving the other team momentum and field position.

    Do any high school kickers kick off the tee? I know in alot of Florida high schools the top kickers don't use a tee just to show college coaches they can... Making the adjustment from kicking off the block to the grass is alot harder than you think...

    Re: best kickers in Iowa high school football

    If i had my choice it would be Mahoney out of Linn Mar....

    Here's a link to a kicking camp that he won.....3-3 from beyond 50 yards and 82 percent otherwise.....plus his kickoffs are deep.....his nickname on Youtube is Da Boot

    Kohl's Player Klips - Grant Mahoney

    If not Mahoney, then they also like a kid out of Illinois named Dimke....
    Great video on him.....big leg, don't know about accuracy....

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hcUV2tL794"]YouTube - Derek Dimke Clips[/ame]

    There's my guesses......anyone that can hit from 40 in i'll take over what we have now.....and if he can hit a kickoff to beyond the 25 yard line that would be a bonus!!!!

    This is a major consideration. Even I can be just about automatic from 30 yards and can push my range out to 40 yards if I kick off of a tee. If I have to kick off of the ground though I struggle with extra points.

    Re: best kickers in Iowa high school football

    I don't know about the Valley kicker, but the Dowling soph kicker has hit from 52 and 53 this year. Pushed a 49 wide. He has practiced a little off the ground as well and isn't bad.
    When I was kicking I kicked off the ground in practice to help with getting the ball up in the air. It sure made kicking off the pad a lot easier.

    Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

    I don't care who they target, we just need somebody who can kick it in or out the back of the endzone. Field position has killed us this year.
