    What's in your garden?

    I'm starting my own vegetable garden this year at my parent's place in Des Moines. I've always had a thing for gardens/plants. I'm thinking about growing my own salsa ingredients with Jalapeños, Green Bell Peppers Tomatoes, Onions, Green Onions, Cilantro and possibly Garlic.

    We grow a ton of stuff in our garden. We have 6 different types of tomatoes (beefmaster, grape, roma, cherry, mexican and russian 117), cucumbers, 8-12 different types of peppers depending on the year (jalapenos, ceyanne, banana, bell pepper, habenero, poblano, chili, and others), oregano, parsley, basil, rosemary, Mexican oregano, dill, thyme, tomatillos, asparagus, carrots, lettuce (non iceburg but the variety changes every year), green beans, and green onions.

    We also have a mint plant that we never really pick but I tried mint ice cream once and it turned out pretty good.

    Don't try onions on your first rodeo, and you need to start those in March or April anyway. And they would harvest in late August + a 3 week drying period. Onions suck to grow.

    We also try a random plant every year and I believe this year we're doing pumpkins. Last year we did potatoes (we literally cut store bought potatoes in half and stuck them in the ground).

    Green peppers, 6 varieties tomato, parsley, oregano, thyme, basil, vidalia onions, red peppers, dill, garlic, shallots, chives, sage, french sorel, cilantro, oregano, and cantaloupe.

    My favorite thing to grow was sugar snap peas. Put some sticks in the ground, and let those vines run up them.

    Green beans, tomatoes, green peppers, zucchini, carrots and radishes. Typically have the best yield on the first two.
