The biggest factor in future realignment...

is probably the set of meetings beginning this week on the 4 team playoff. Check this out, "Economists and television consultants value a playoff system around $600 million to $1.5 billion per year, depending on the number of teams included. Thatís a major increase from the more than $125 million per year the BCS currently receives annually."

Playoff would be a big moneymaker - Sports Business News, Analysis - Dollars Blog - ESPN Playbook - ESPN

Looking at the quote in that article, I'm assuming $600 million is for a 4 team playoff and 1.5 Billion is for an 8 team playoff. The division of revenue is going to be critical for how teams might decide on future realignment. Will it be split relatively evenly year to year, or will there be a big reward for inclusion and/or performance in a playoff? If you split it evenly, each "BCS" school probably ends up in the neighborhood of another $7-10 million a year, but if you divide it up on inclusion and/or performance, you're going to find the ACC rumors about dismantling coming true as they run to the SEC, Big 10, and Big 12 to ensure (1) more money and (2) a better chance at inclusion in the playoff.

Yeah, in this case the 4 leagues with best access are going to be Big 12, Big 10, SEC, and Pac-12, regardless of the number of TV sets in ACC land.
