Kirk Ferentz: Ken O'Keefe Going Nowhere

Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz had this message to fans beckoning for the ouster of offensive coordinator Ken O'Keefe:

    Forget it.

"First of all, I think he's a quality coach, an outstanding coach," Ferentz said Tuesday. "I can't imagine us having someone better in that position, so that's the major problem on that request."

"I think he's a quality coach, an outstanding coach..." That sounds all to familiar. What did Hayden Fry teach these guys???

Re: Kirk Ferentz: Ken O'Keefe Going Nowhere

Best news I have heard in a long time. Iowa runs the same boring offense evey year...

1st down -zone block for 2 yards
2nd down- buble pass or wide receiver screen pass
    3rd down -qb sack
    4th down-punt

He is right. Ken is going nowhere. Who would take him? Same for Kevin Cosgrove. Who would take him? Atlanta Falcons or Miami Dolphins? Not even them.

KF has Danny Mac syndrome, his bad assistants are going to take down the captain.

Re: Kirk Ferentz: Ken O'Keefe Going Nowhere

Well, I'm holding out hope that he's playing politics. Right now, he can't say "Yeah, after the season, we're gonna can him", and even saying something like "Well, we'll evaluate things after the season", with the way the question was asked, would suggest that he's contemplating it.

There is still a chance Iowa goes to the post-season. Obviously very small, but still a chance. But if they want to go, they're going to need everything to be as positive as it can be, especially with the current law/injury situations, and talking about getting rid of an assistant at this time would be pointless.

I remember hearing that a lot when Earle Bruce was here. Is that who you are thinking of?

DING, DING, DING, DING We have a winner.

We used to have a chant in the stands:

Option Left, Option Right, Up the Middle, Punt, UHHH.

    It was pretty catchy.

He has no one to blame but himself if the captain goes down with the ship now. When you are 117th in offense and you say there isn't anyone out there better well there is Kirk, 116 of them to be exact!

I think you're right - let's just wait until the offseason to see what happens with Ken. But there is no bowl game in Iowa's future this year so that decision could come in December.

Anyone else notice the veiled shot at ISU?
"It's not as easy as changing your shirt and everything's going to be fine," Ferentz said. "We could change our uniforms, but I don't think that's going to be the answer to our problems right now.
