    Re: Monday Musings: 4-23 Edition

Will fans really come out to the Big 4 classic? I personally have no interest in it at all and I'm a season ticket holder. I don't know how others feel but I have no interest in paying to watch iowa play someone other than ISU. Does a ticket get you to both games or are they separate?

Pretty sure it gets you both games.

    Re: Monday Musings: 4-23 Edition

Ticket gets both games. That's a part of the complaints the event received. A lot of us are assuming that the games will only be half full. Many ISU fans likely won't go to the Iowa game in the session and vice versa. I'm sure Drake and UNI fans feel the same way.

Probably has a lot more appeal to people who are NOT season ticket holders, live in the DSM area, and would like the opportunity to see a couple games without having to drive to Ames/IC/CF.

I see it being very well attended, just look at the attendance for the NCAA Women's Tourney games and there wasn't even a single local team playing.

    Re: Monday Musings: 4-23 Edition

Agree with the thoughts on the Big 4 Classic.

They really should've made it a 2 day event where ISU and Iowa flip opponents from Friday night to Saturday night.

The "extra game" for a bigger name opponent is a cop out. If you want to do that no one is making you schedule Mississippi Valley State, Montana State, or Kennesaw State in the other 11 non conference games.

Since these games will be at Wells Fargo and not on campus, will beer be served during the games?

    Re: Monday Musings: 4-23 Edition

I don't understand why people even consider the thought beer wouldn't be served. I think the only time it isn't served in the Well is during the high school tournaments. I have never been to any other sporting event at the Well where beer wasn't served.

Note: Not singling out the post above, more the 400 people last month who had to ask. Of course they'll serve you beer at $8 each. Easy money.

It really is. I am ashamed that Iowa State is pussing out with Iowa on this.

It was sold for the Creighton - ISU game. Pricey stuff.

Sorry, I live in Omaha and have never been there. I wasn't aware this was an issue. I was thinking of going over for this since I no longer have a yearly local game in Lincoln and I just thought watching the Panthers and Hawkeyes might be more palatable if I were in my cups.

you need a certain number of home games for revenues. the only way you can guarantee getting home games is to schedule crappy teams.

if we're able to get into better non-conf exempt tourneys (and I think we will), then it won't make sense to play a tourney with BCS tourney teams and then go play mid majors on the road. no one else does that.

Official NCAA events, such as the women's tournament this year, also do not sell alcohol.

This set of games should be fine though.

I stand corrected. But that does make sense. My head hurts thinking about the kind of money the venues lose not serving alcohol. I think it was $8 or $9 for a beer the last Barnstormers game I went to.
