    Iranian Policy Divide

The Iranian leadership appears to be divided over their nuclear "negotiations."

Did anybody watch Frontline this evening (Showdown With Iran)?

Very interesting... it seems that before the "showdown" started to heat up with Iran, I heard a lot of reports of more moderate elements in Iran, particularly among the young people. That the younger generation in Iran wanted to modernize and admired Western culture, a view that forced the hand of the older generation to crack down a little more, and confront the West.

I didn't catch Frontline, by the way.

    Re: Iranian Policy Divide

One of the assertions made by Frontline was that just after Iraq fell, Iran felt so threatened that they agreed unilaterally to a "grand bargain" with the U.S. The only condition Iran sought was that the U.S. not push for a regime change within Iran. Under the "grand bargain" Iran would have disengaged from terrorism and discontinued its nuclear program. The "grand bargain" never received a response from the U.S. The humilation from the U.S. government not giving serious consideration to the "grand bargain" was the end of the moderates having influence within the Iranian government.

I would have to see some pretty solid proof to believe this, and especially that the only condition was no push for regime change. If true, whoever decided to not respond is an idiot of the first order.

The Great Decider (Dick Cheney) has all but made up his mind to invade Iran. Bush and Cheney are indeed, Idiots of the First Order.

So, what else do the "voices in your head" tell you? Or is that the Democratic Underground, speaking? (Hard to differentiate, I'm sure....)

Thanks again for the Negative Rep Herbiedoobie. Pretty consistent with the way our current Administration attacks people who criticize them. Ouch!! You are hurting me.

Maybe if you made arguments instead of name-calling you wouldn't face this problem. You just belittle yourself with the crap you thow out there.
