Some Good Points I Agree With On Why We Need to Resolve the QB Situation Very Soon

Heard this on Miller and Brinson the other day and I totally agree. They said, "We have had two spring camps, a summer camp, and a fall camp of the SJ and JB competition. CPR knows what he has so, it should not be this difficult to name a starter and move the team forward. If he keeps dragging this out, it won't be good for either guy."

I agree with that and now this article backs up the argue of Miller and Brinson. They also said, CPR pulling JB like he did in the bowl game probably ruined any confidence that he had built up throughout the season. That's already been discussed but do you think anything in this article applies to us as we try to build a program of consistancy and competitiveness. Or, is it just hogwash and we enjoy this rolling on for months of QB controversy every year. I'll shut up and listen.

I dont think we have all of the information from the bowl game. Rhoads is all about building confidence and I find it hard to believe he pulled JB without good reason.

I disagree for a couple of reasons.

Why is competition good for every other position but is detrimental for QB's? I think extra motivation for the off-season is a good thing.

If you can't shake off getting pulled in a game last season, how are you going to shake off throwing a pick-six in this game.

Using a BR article as your source automatically ruins your credibility. FBinTX, I know you are smarter than those guys at BR.

You might be right, Footballintexas. We should just trade JB to the Hoks.

To be fair, he did shake off a pick six and come back to beat OSU.

IMO, Steele was not pulled in the season solely because of performance. I think he was pulled halfway due to his injury hindering his play. Once he was healthy, JB had done some really good things and throwing Steele back in was the wrong move. Once you have a month off and go to a bowl, though, things change and IMO, the staff thought Steele was the better option going into the bowl. They simply could not, however just ditch JB after he had done the things he had done. That just my epinion on last years situation.

My point exactly. We expect a QB to be able to do that, but we don't expect that he will be able to shake off being pulled in a game last season when even he admits he was not playing well?

I think this has alot of truth about Steele. Honestly I think we all are in for a big surprise with Steele if he stays healthy through fall camp. I expect him to be named starter against Tulsa if he can stay healthy. Can't have him dinged up.

IMO, Jantz is the guy and the reason they don't just esablish that is they want to build confidence in JB. He came in last year and did some pretty impressive things, any other coaching staff would have named him starter by now if he was better than Jantz. They realize Barnett will be competing next year for the job and Jantz will be gone so they don't want the kid to think he is gonna be a possible career backup. My guess would be that the bigggest flaws in JBs game right now are arm strength and confindence. IDK, I could be way off.

If Jantz can clean up his boneheaded interceptions, Ill jump back on the bandwagon.

So you think this is all a ruse to give a confidence boost to JB? What about Steele's confidence? He was the one that got yanked halfway through the season because of his proclivity for throwing it to the wrong team.

I think he looked pretty good in the spring game. Just made ONE mistake on that INT. And I don't even think he saw George. JG was in a GREAT position for that play. It was a great play and catch by JG. Other than that Jantz was making good throws and moved around well in the pocket. Should of had 2 TDs if we weren't playing touch football out there.
