    Mike Taylors grades

I know that grades werent the only reason that he was kicked off of the team. But I was in the Academic Success Center earlier and was snooping around the athletics floor and they had awards for athletes who had GPA's of over 3.0. And under the Mens Basketball section was Mike Taylor. I always thought that grades was one of the main reasons he got kicked off of the team.

    Re: Mike Taylors grades

He got kicked off for repeatedly getting in trouble. Remember the trashed hallway and being caught shoplifting cold medicine? Not to mention the drunk driving before he arrived on campus that probably factored into that.

    Re: Mike Taylors grades

I thought it was Dodie Dunson who was having trouble with keeping up in school?

Mike Taylor was suspected of being suspended for the first few games last season because of grades, but then it was revealed that he received a DUI in Wisconsin.

    Re: Mike Taylors grades

Mike's grades were fine. People wondered why the coaches took so long to make a decision on the guy... you don't kick kids with good grades off the team right before the end of the year... they might just leave early and turn those good grades into bad ones.

Dodie is a great kid and he tried hard. If everyone put forth the effort he did most of these kids would not only make grades, but graduate.

    Re: Mike Taylors grades

Trashing the hallway and shoplifting are what put Taylor on the hotseat with McDermott. McDermott laid out strict rules for him to follow if he wanted to stay on the team. Well, it turned out Taylor wasn't attending his summer class which violated the rules set before him and he was kicked off the team.

I wonder if Taylor is one of those guys who has plenty of book smarts, but at the same time an appalling lack of street smarts and common sense. That does surprise me that his grades were apparently good.

It has been said that Mac was really happy to see Mike go. He really messed with team chemistry. Taylor and MacIntosh did not get along at all. Mac is a lot happier with the chemistry this year. I hope that gets us some more wins.

That is unfair to say even if having any valuable sources. This is where rumors begin with comments like this. I honestly doubt that any coach, no matter their opinion for someone, would ever say this about one of their players. They spend the time and money recruiting these guys, so there is no reason why they would ever feel that way. Its like talking about your own children in a sense.

Taylor was suspended for the exhibition games last year due to "academic problems". Who knows if they were truly academic problems or a slap on the wrist for his OWI.
