Given all the recent rash of those entering the NBA draft...

Did Royce make his decision to early? If you're better than everybody jumping in it doesn't matter... but if there are bunches with more talent - it has to push you down the list. Why not wait until the last possible moment to see how many people have jumped in?

The Hawkeyes, who have lost six of their last seven games, were given a No. 11 seed and will be involved in one of the four first-round games by virtue of being one of the last four at-large teams to make the field. “It’s not a &%#$@%* play-in game!’’ McCaffery said when a reporter phrased it that way. McCaffery then hurled a bottle of G2 into the face of the reporter stating "you #$%*&@ idiot!".

Maybe, but he also got a lot of pub by being really the first big name to declare. He might have gotten lost in the shuffle by waiting. In addition he declared while his performance the first weekend of the tourney was fresh in everyone's mind. That memory might have diminished by now, but it got him on everyone's draft boards at the start.

I know I'm hoping for the best for him. And, given he really stepped up against better competition, that he will continue to improve as he goes to pre-draft camps/team workouts. I still trust that Hoiberg and other advisers gave him lots of scenarios, etc. to consider.

Because he has bigger things to do that he can't as a subject of the NCAA.

No, you don't see very many 22 year olds getting drafted in the first round.

His draft stock is at an all-time high based on the way he played in the NCAA tournament so no. Absolutely not.

    Kenneth Faried
    Jimmer Fredette
    Nolan Smith
    MarShon Brooks
    JaJuan Johnson
    Norris Cole
    Jimmy Butler

all were that age and drafted in the first round last year....so Royce could easily have been a first rounder next year..

Has there really been a "rash" or has it been pretty typical?

    Wouldn't a rash be "topical"?

    College player....possibly. NBA prospect...not a chance.

He went too early, his skills are not there yet...but yes AT THE TIME....he has to go. Stock is way too high not to.

Although i think he could have come back, led ISU to a tremendous year and been better off. BUt i cant blame him for leaving.

Yeah, I'm sure his head coach told him the same thing too. And what would that guy know?

It's not like the people declaring are surprises. Royce was high on the draft boards with these expected departures. They likely change nothing.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
