Should ISU play a game in Florida?

With 13 players on our roster from the state of Florida and 5 more coming in, would it be to our advantage to play a game in the sunshine state sometime in the future? I know that scheduling non conference games is done years in advance but ISU recruiting, and getting, Florida kids is something that we've done for years and will surely continue to do. Now I'm not saying we should add Florida or Florida State to our non-con, as that would be stupid to add a tougher game when we already play in the 2nd toughest conference in the nation. Playing a team like Central Florida, South Florida, Flordia International or Florida Atlantic would probably be more to our advantage in the getting a win. According to teamrankings.com UCF finished the 2011-12 season ranked 84th, USF 82nd, FIU 90th and FAU 118th. All 4 of those teams finished below 70th place UCONN (our out of state non-con last year)

    Pros:
    -Helps our recruiting footprint
-can make the pitch "you'll play a game in your home state"
-helps get ISU name out there

What are your guys thoughts and some cons to ISU playing a game in the Sunshine state?

Yeah, because winning in Florida International's Sun Belt backyard would be headline news.

I think a home and home with a Florida school would be good for our recruiting down there.

I'd love to see us play @ South Florida since we recruit the Tampa area pretty hard.

We'll have plenty of games in Tallahassee when FSU joins the Big 12.

1 game isn't going to do a whole helluva lot. Give me a home game every day of the week.

Rather it not be Florida, FSU, or Miami but i would be all for a home and home with South Florida.

Re: Should ISU play a game in Florida?

I think games in vacation spots (which is nice to the fans) and/or good recruiting grounds (we already play a lot in Texas, California might not even be a terrible idea) can only be good for us. I wouldn't mind going to (another) game in Las Vegas, or anywhere in southern California or Florida.

    South Florida
    FIU
    FAU
    Central Florida
    UNLV
    SDSU

    UCLA?

Even though it was a bit closer down the road, it has to beat UConn and Hartford, Patheticut...

Yes, but not in the regular season. How about a bowl game in Florida?

I find this question shallow and pedantic.

Re: Should ISU play a game in Florida?

Home and Home with South Florida would be awesome. Maybe even a home and home with UCF. The other schools(FIU and Florida Atlantic) we are above having a home and home with.

Home and homes with Miami and FSU probably won't happen.
