    New Recruiting class

What are the chances that Chizik will have a better recruiting class than Ferentz this next year? Our commitments are almost identical right now and they have yet to sign a 4* commit.

    Re: New Recruiting class

Iowa can keep getting their four star recruits as far as I'm concerned... all they do is get in trouble and underperform on the field. It's the Dallas Clarks and Robert Gallerys that spurred them to great seasons.

I would think Texas and Florida has better recruits than Illinois.

    Re: New Recruiting class

or, another question could be, how will Chizik's first full recruiting class compare to the last few of McCarney's? I'm not a huge fan of the star-rating system, but if you compare the class of 2006 and the commitments so far for 2008 on scout.com, '06 had 5 3-stars in the entire class, whereas for '08, there are already 5 3-stars signed. I like to see the D-lineman position getting attention already and I'm sure the staff is looking for some big uglies for future O-lines...

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

This just in, Iowa's recruiting hasn't been that great. ND, Illinois and Rutgers are killing their recruiting grounds.

    Re: New Recruiting class

The thing I am really excited about is that chizik is a "defensive" coach. So now low and behold we are bringing in alot of defensive recruits. The defensive is way better this year, from last year with alot of first year starters. Imagine what we can do with some good recruits that become veterans in a few years under chizik/bolts helm.

Can't win games on defense alone. We need to score points also.

Take a look at last week's game. A few more playmakers on offense and we have OU in serious trouble at half-time.

    Re: New Recruiting class

ISU is recruiting about 5 or 6 players from the Butler CC Juco down in KC all of them are on the defensive side of the ball. Is that team that good on defense?

I am not sure how good their defense is, but they are the #2 ranked juco team in all the land. And we conference champs last year.

I'm going to wait until the whole class is signed before I get too excited. I fear he may be going hard after his top priorities now and may have to settle on lower caliber guys later to fill out the class. At least thats what I always do in the video games...

    Re: New Recruiting class

well if you look at Iowa State's Needs for next year:
    WR- Todd Blythe_Senior, RJ Sumrall_Soph, Marqui Hamilton_Soph
O- Line- Doug Dedrick_Soph, Brandon Johnson_Jun ,Tom Shmelling_Junior, Ben Lamaak_Fresh, Reggie Stephens_ Soph,
    RB-Jason Scales_Jun, JJ bass- Jun
    QB-Bret Meyer_Senior
    TE-Ben Barkema_Senior

Next year we will replace Meyer with Arnaud, should be a decently smooth transition. Blythe with Franklin or Graham and Barkema with Catlett. All in all, we aren't losing much on the offensive side. With alot of guys with two year of Eligibility left going into next year.
