Should the NFL stop having kickoffs?

    What do you guys think?

I personally think it would be a bad idea to stop having them.

No. Need the onside kick, and kickoff returns are momentum changers.

Re: Should the NFL stop having kickoffs?

There is NO WAY this can happen. If you eliminate kickoffs, you eliminate onside kicks, and how do you compensate for that when a team is down 7 points with under 2 minutes to play in what would have been an onside kickoff situation?

Re: Should the NFL stop having kickoffs?

I'm saying no, but if safety is the NFL's main concern I can see them doing it. However, I don't think anyone believes that the NFL cares more about player safety than money.

Maybe you kick off from the 50 and onside kick every time.

I think the NFL cares about player safety, but only as far as their legal liability extends. If there were no lawsuits from former players, I highly doubt you would be seeing as many changes made in the name of safety.

That would be ridiculous if they got rid of them. They can be a really exciting part of the game.

Might as well get rid of the forward pass too. That way there are no more defenseless receivers getting laid out.

Giants owner said it was a future possibility. Probably won't happen, but I was watching Sports Center and thought it was dumb. Wanted to know what other people thought as well. I guess there are a lot of people that feel the same way.

This is ridiculous. The game would be ruined if you took away kickoffs.

    I blame this on soccer.

Kickers could then get paid way to much money for even less work.
