    13 songs sports has ruined

    13 songs sports has ruined

Some of these are ones familiar to Cyclone nation. Some I agree with (Crazy Train, Zombie Nation) and others I don't (Enter Sandman, 7 Nation Army). Some of these I've NEVER heard at a sporting event. Other they have missed that need to be on this list are We will rock you, Don't Stop Believing.

What are others thoughts on these and what songs should be on it?

Sandman is popular with the MLB and 7 Nation Army is super popular with Soccer (or Futbol) and Hockey...

The ISU pep band will occasionally play "Seven Nation Army," but I enjoy when they play it. Since I don't/won't ever watch soccer, I'm still good on the White Stripes.

I wouldn't say sports ruined any of those songs. And why would "Take me out to the Ballgame" be on the list?

I cannot hear "Call me Al" by Paul Simon without thinking of a high school basketball pep band.

Seven Nation Army isn't annoying when the Big 12 or most other conferences use it by either playing the original over the speakers or having the band play it.

What is extremely annoying (and a good indicator for what conference you are watching if for some reason you couldn't see who the teams are) is that every Big 10 student section, football and basketball, sings the opening guitar part during the games. I seriously flip the channel every time they do that.

The Isu band makes a lot of songs better. 7nation army and blink 182 I can think of.

Yea...how about no, Scott. Your post isn't accurate at all, but I do love that you worked in a Big 10 dig. Well done.

I didn't look at the link since I'm on my phone, but I would add Muse's "Uprising" to the list. It's not one of their best songs by any means, but I like it and it is annoying to hear it on tv all of the time during football games. I am betting that the average football fan has no idea who Muse is.

umm, they're not that obscure at all. Knights of Cydonia made it onto one of the Guitar Hero games, for crying out loud. And Uprising got tons of airplay on rock radio. If by "the average football fan" you mean someone who's old and pays no attention to music, then you could be right, but if that's the criteria, then the average football fan probably has no idea who the White Stripes are, either.

??? I've heard it from Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, and Illinois. Sadly, I think I've even heard it from Nebraska though it may have been a Nebraska road game. Listen to the students sometime and you will hear it: "Oh, oh, oh oh oh oooooh oh" over and over again. If it doesn't annoy you, fine. It definitely annoys me.
