    Football Pre-Game Show with CW

Would you like to see Chris Williams have a pre-game show live on the field (and shown on the videoboard) before home football games?

Chris Williams took part in a really cool pre-game show live on the field for nearly an hour before the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium. Essentially, as I recall, someone from the Yankee Sports Network interviewed CW (who was great) and the radio announcer for Rutgers (who was rather lame). They went back-and-forth talking about the game, the players, the bowl experience, the season, etc. The entire thing was shown on the videoboard, including game highlights and some recorded interviews. All around, I thought it was great, particularly because CW was insightful, clever, entertaining, and even helpful in getting folks ready for the game.

I would like to propose to the Athletic Department that they use CW to do something similar during the pre-game activities before home football games. It could include CW’s commentary, interviews with people associated with the program (Arnaud, Blum, Bruns, etc.), interviews with people associated with the visiting team (such as their radio announcer), interviews with journalists and other notable people in attendance, and video highlights from the previous games.

The pre-game show for the Pinstripe Bowl was really engaging. Although there was plenty else to do in Yankee Stadium, CW got people in their seats and fired up about the game, especially when he would say something particularly witty in support of the Cyclones.

Please vote in the poll and add your comments. I thought the day before the Spring game would be a good time to draw attention to this idea. I’m going to write an email to Jamie Pollard next week that describes the idea and I would like to include a report of strong support from Cyclone Fanatics.

So, what do you think? Would you like to see a live pre-game show at home games led by CW?

If you were at Yankee Stadium for the Pinstripe Bowl pre-game show with CW, please feel free to add your descriptions and comments about it (and what you would like to see from a CW pre-game show).

That sounds like a good idea but I really like what he does with Tron before games now. I like that we can go over and watch their show before the gates even open. If it sacrificed the KXNO show that he did last year, then I'm out.

Only if he doesn't have a boner like he did at Yankee Stadium.

I loved it at Yankee Staidum. Think it would be really cool and would add to the game day experience. Probably not for a hour, but for 20-30 minutes wouldn't be bad. Maybe do the radio show and then 5-10 minutes before gates open up he can go to his seat in the stadium and do the show in there on the board.

It would give me a reason to stop tailgating sooner, so I'm instantly against this.

Good point. Hopefully, there would be a way to do both.

There is as long as you don't mind if what they show before the game on the jumbo tron isn't live. It could be done fairly easily if it is shot on Thursday or Friday, and then have someone edited it together after production. Granted this would be a time commitment for the parties involved, but it can be done.

Walters is great, but straightforward great. CW's insight and wit were great in that they were less predictable and a little more edgy during the Pinstripe Bowl pre-game show.

And it was really cool to have them doing it on the field and showing it on the videoboard.

    Thank you Mrs. Walters.

Seriously, Walters is great, but CW did an awesome job at the Pinstripe Bowl that was much different than what I would want to see Walters do. My hope is that we can keep adding good things and make the experience even better, especially now that we are playing better football.
