NIKE AIR MAX+ 2012 running shoes

Does anyone own a pair of these? I've been using the Nike Free Runs for a few years now and my lower back gets pretty sore when i run, so i'm looking at something new. These look like they'd be really comfy and light weight but they are a bit expensive at $170. I seem to be having a hard time finding reviews on them so i thought i'd check here.

I never liked Nike shoes for running, I got much better support out of Asics, NB, or Saucony's. I currently run in these, but I am a big fat guy: Saucony PowerGrid Hurricane 14 White/Black/Red - Zappos.com Free Shipping BOTH Ways

^ Agree on not really liking Nike's for running. I wear Mizuno and love them. Brooks are also another great running brand.

Not sure about those shoes but when I buy running shoes I usually go to running shoe store. In Cedar Rapids/IC area, there's a store called running wild that for every person, they will watch you walk and run and see how your feet move, hit the ground, etc and then give you a couple of options for shoes based on their fit and your need. I'm not sure if there are any other stores out there or in your area like it, but have had really good success with shoes bought from there over the last few years. I don't work there either... Just am very pleased with the shoes/service I've gotten from them.

I try to run about 18-20 miles per week, so I go through shoes frequently.

I too use the Nike Free, but never had any back issues. I can see Air Max providing more lateral support, but not more cushion / impact relief.

Just ordered a new pair with NikeFREE - ID $130

If your in the Des Moines Area I would strongly recommend Fitnees Sports on University in the Appley Valley Shopping District (a des runners shoe fit store).

I was impresseped that they actually had size fourteens in stock.

Also bring in your old pair of shoes too. they can look at the wear pattern and make suggestion off that too.

Re: NIKE AIR MAX+ 2012 running shoes

Not for running, but I do a ton of walking for work - I bought a pair from the DM Nike Outlet store yesterday ($129).

Didn't want to pay that much for shoes, but my feet have been in pain for a while. Tried a few different kinds of shoes and inserts. I can't have a colorful shoe as I dress business casual. None of the business casual walking shoes cut it for me either.

I went with the silver and so far, these things are extremely comfortable.

Also trying out the Nike dri-fit socks with the arch support - love them as well.

Re: NIKE AIR MAX+ 2012 running shoes

    WARNING: Nike Fanboy

In my opinion, Frees are terrible running shoes for anything that isn't in a completely straight line on a completely flat surface at a slow pace. I've had 3 or 4 pair over the years and they don't last nearly as long as a normal pair of shoes and there is no stability.

I currently have and they're very, very comfortable for jogging. I don't have a ton of miles on them, but I'm a bigger guy (6'2" 235ish) and they provide very good support and they're easy to clean up.

Like someone said above, go into Fitness Sports. They'll be able to help you and get you the proper shoe for your body type as well as running form. A good pair of socks to wear with them will also help (the Nike drifit ones I got at Scheels were a ripoff, but they were worth every penny).

Re: NIKE AIR MAX+ 2012 running shoes

I have run in Asics for years, bought a pair of Nike Airs a couple years ago, just didn't compare comfort wise.

As you may have noticed many companies are moving away from "cushy" shoes. So much cushioning is good and bad. I would suggest checking out Merrell Sonic Trails. See if you can make the transition. Better for your feet, legs and back. Allows you to engage all muscles rather than not working your feet due to too much cushioning.

Eastbay has some great deals right now. Good Luck!

Re: NIKE AIR MAX+ 2012 running shoes

don't know if it is true or not, but the running store I go to says that Nike's running shoes are not certified for running like other less expensive brands like asics or brooks.

Anyway, I am a big guy, six two 250, and when I did my Ironman training, running 50 miles a week or more, I found asics to be the best for me, but that they wear out pretty quick. When I tri-train, I usually go through a pair in 3 months.

No knee problems or back problems.

I suggest if you are serious about running go to a running store and have them video tape your feet to see if you have any tilt or collapsing arch issues.

Also, warning, the Asics at Kohls may appear to be the same, have a very similar number, but are not the same as the more expensive ones. I've tested them more than once, and the Kohl's versions do not last me near as long.

I'm a fan of Fitness Sports too, but Kyle's Bikes in Ankeny has the potential to rival them for specialty running. I was there yesterday and was fitted on their Dartfish Gait Analysis system. They will put you in the right shoe for your running style. Again, nothing against Fitness Sports at all, but I was very pleased with Kyle's Bikes.
