    Mark Farley to Nebraska?

I nominate Mark Farley to replace Bill Callahan in Lincoln ince Bill is destined for removal. He runs a team the way Big Red fans had expected. Nothing fancy, just hard nosed Midwest football.

Leading Western Illinois 35-3 at their home field.

Good playcalling. Good organization. Tough play. Well rounded team, mostly guys from Iowa.

On second thought, maybe the Hawkeyes could use him for KF.

    Why not?

Nebraska has to play Austin next....

CFH HMagic bball season next year.

That Western Illinois player's last name is Fuchs. How do you pronounce that?

Anyway, I did see Farley's name mentioned on a kNebraska board earlier this week. Wouldn't be that bad of a hire, but would never happen, as kNU fans are kind of like the guys that like bling bling. They want someone with a big, flashy name.

I highly doubt Farley will ever leave UNI. Its too perfect for him.

That player name is pronounced as you think it is pronounced as of this game.

Suppose UNI won the champinship this year and Blake Sanders is graduating.

They are done with fancy offenses and want to go back to hard nose football. That is their mantra now. No ***** willow tackling. Just hitting.

    Re: Mark Farley to Nebraska?

I liked one ESPN columnists opinion of Paul Johnson at Navy - he runs the old school Nebraska offense, knows how to execute details of the power running game. And he does it all with minimal recruits. I'd be scared if Johnson went to NU.

A quick look at the state employee database shows that he currently makes about $147K/year in base salary.

I think he'd leave for that kind of jack.

    Re: Mark Farley to Nebraska?

Sometimes its not about Money. He is the King of Cedar Fall and is looking to win a National Championship for his school.

Plus the idea of Nebraska getting a guy that isn't known outside of Iowa is ridiculous. They will get a big name hire. Bo Pileni(sp) is my guess.

    Re: Mark Farley to Nebraska?

Yeah, Mark Farley would really sell confidence into the fans in Nebraska. I'm a lowly Iowa State fan and I wouldn't be happy with him being our coach. I think he's done really well at UNI, but let him earn his rings in D1 first before he gets a big job.

    Re: Mark Farley to Nebraska?

Bo is younger and a motivator but he can be a wild man. I do not think they want the head coach to be so brash. Think like Devaney, Solich and Osbourne. That is their type.

And remember Callahan was their fifth choice.

Pelini is a possibility. Turner Gill is young at Buffalo. Scott Frost is linebacker coach at UNI. Jerry Murtaugh is 67. Kiffin might com back. Solich is stuck at Ohio. Brester may be available. No pro coaches allowed. Steve Loney? Maybe TO can come back. Tom Rathman? Larry the Cable Guy? McCarney?

Need a defensive or offensive coordinator or head coach. Not fancy, just a hard worker who can get players to play hard.

I think Gene should try to recruit Dan Hoch again from Harlan.

    He would go.

    He won't be asked.

Tressel is doing ok at Ohio State coming from Youngstown State.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

Didn't Tressel win 2 1-AA national championships? Think he has at least one....
