Haith named AP Coach of the Year

Missouri's Frank Haith is AP Coach of the Year - College Basketball - Rivals.com

Voting was done before the loss to Norfolk State. Received 21 of 65 votes. Yet didn't win B12 coach of the year...

Good luck next year Haith after losing all but 2 of your players.

Agreed. Had plenty of talent given to him on that team and won the big 12 tournament by having the 1 and 3 seeds taken out before they got to Missouri. And then lost in the first round of the tournament (though i know the voting was before that). The media seems to love him though.

Re: Haith named AP Coach of the Year

I wonder how many times AP coach of the year did not win Conference coach of the year. Funny thing is that he was voted 3rd in Big 12...
I would have voted for Boeheim considering he lost a key assistant at the start of the season.

"Freddie knows the game," Bird said. "I'm sure he picked up a lot of stuff over the years from different people. College is different from the NBA, but I'm sure he'll do a great job."

I would say the NCAA tournament settled the Haith/Self debate.

He had talent when he came in, but he did have to work through some major issues with the lack of size and Laurence Bowers going down on top of the normal problems of being a first year coach.

I can guarantee this, if we had Mizzou's talent to start the season, and then we had a key big like Bowers go down, this place would be in full, meltdown, "season is over!", mode.

that's fine, he now joins the contest for worst AP coach between him, Phil Martelli, Keno Davis, and Matt Doherty.

LOL!!! Just goes to show you how silly sportspeople can be thinking Haith was the best coach in the country this year.

actually... he did a good job whether it was the "talent" of the players or whatever... for a first year coach he did a hell of a job
