    Lawn Care

    Relatively new to central Iowa, anyone have recommendations for a good lawn care outfit that would service Warren County? My lawn is absolute crap and needs a lot of help. Thanks.

    Seriously, though, my neighbor uses A+ Lawn & Landscaping and his lawn always looks pretty nice.

    If your lawn is overrun with weeds RoundUp is probably the best solution. You could then do a soil test, amend the soil as needed, and then re-seed. Best time to do this is late August / early September though.

    This guy is experienced and knows what he is doing. Works the Creston (SW Ia.) area, Sun Valley Lake. May not get to Warren Co. but is a go getter and probably knows who is good. He also has the Walker Mower (commercial) franchise for the area and probably reaches Indianola.

    Bad advice. Roundup is not the solution, unless you desire a lawn that is completely dead.

    Get a couple of gallons of 2,4-d / dicamba. A bunch of 10-10-10 fertilizer.... I mean a bunch. Spray spread and then overseed in september while watering daily.

    You'll like the way you look... I guarantee it.

    Not to start anything but I'd recommend Organic Weed Killers/Weed Prevention. Round-up and other chemical sprays change the biology of the soil. An organic weed killer adds to the soil and helps prevent weeds in the future. Your dogs and kids can also play on the grass during application with no harm coming to them.
