    The Beat Down

Looks like Purdue completely and utterly DESTROYED the little boys from Iowa City. So much for the Iowa City School For Delicate Girls' "winning out" this season.

God help me, I LOVE IT when hawkfan's team loses!!!

One one of the Hawk boards a fan pointed out that it is still TECHNICALLY possible for Iowa to go to the Rose Bowl.

    Re: The Beat Down

Guys...Its Iowa. They will probably beat a bad Northwestern Team, HORRIBLE......Minnesota team at home and a BAD Western Michigan team at home.
That makes them 6-6, bowl eligible and for the 3rd year straight they really didn't beat anyone.

And they'll end up undeservedly at the Alamo Bowl and will get their aces kicked, again.

What's funny about Iowa Fan is that they don't realize that their reputation as a "great traveling fanbase" is causing their team to take acekickings at bowl games against teams they have no business playing. Much the same as Notre Dame.

    Re: The Beat Down

Don't laugh too hard...Iowa could still easily win six games and possibly seven thanks to a weak end of the year schedule. Wins against Northwestern, Western Michigan, Minnesota make six and Michigan State a possible seven. I'm not rooting for them, but the schedule is extreemly weak.

    Re: The Beat Down

There's no way this Hawkeye team will beat Northwestern. They won't be able to stop them and as long as Iowa keeps scoring 6 and 10 points a game you will have problems beating anyone. Just like our red zone offense will most likely prevent us from beating a real team this year.

    Re: The Beat Down

But Iowa IS weaker and from the news report I heard about the game, some of Iowa's key defensive players got hurt in the second half. I don't know how serious but it sounded like there was some key injuries.

Did not do too bad against UT last year in the alamo bowl. I don't think they will get to alamo at 6-6 this year, there are too many better big10 teams. Ill and Purdue doing well really hurt Iowa.

Sorry, but we lost to Kent State, UNI and Toledo this year. We haven't exactly had it rough every single year in the Big 12 until recently (particularly the North).

    Re: The Beat Down

I have a REALLY hard time seeing Iowa winning out. They just can't score points. They are a lot like us in that respect. Inept offense, and a decent defense.

That being said, I'd certainly swap schedules with them this year.

We're dealing with a new reality over there. At the beginning of the year, this schedule looked real weak, and 10 wins seemed not only possible, but likely. That hasn't exactly panned out. If someone scores 21 on them in a game, it's over. Northwestern ought to be able to do that, and I think Michigan St. will smoke them.

I would believe it considering everyone in iowa city is puking evidently...seriously this is off topic, but the local eastern iowa news teams are friggin' terrible. I was flipping by them in the local channels here in CF between the baseball and football games tonight and one of their stories in iowa city was about a guy who walks by all the bars the morning after and counts all the places people had vomited the night before...all I could think was: THIS is news?

iowa is not a good team this year, but i do sadly agree with a lot of people on here that their schedule is favorable and they could still go to another undeserved bowl game...
