I would assume those big 12 games would just be the tier 2 contract we signed with fox (a news corp company) last year. Increased visibility is always a plus though, as opposed to the regional FSNs

Maybe the Iowa-ISU game might be seen nationally next year. Maybe soccer will make a comeback in time for the Olympics.

Not in the U.S., as we didn't qualify.

I saw this too. Makes future conference tv negotiations interesting.

Seriously, am I the only one that thinks that sports are the next bubble to burst?

Not likely. The reason sports is exploding in value is the ever increasing use of online and time shifted (tivo\dvr) viewing. These types of viewing are much less valuable to advertisers than sports, that are usually watched live and thus their ads get watched live. Unless that trend changes (unlikely) sports programming will continue to increase in value.

You are not the only one...I totally agree with you. I just hope we (b12,ISU) can cash in before the bubble bursts

Nice. Difference between regional and national broadcasts for Big 12 tier 2 rights.

No, which is part of the reason why the B12 is in the process of getting their Tier 1 FB deal extended with ESPN 3 years prior to its expiration.

    Re: News Corp planning network...

Maybe we can get Hannity and O'Reilly to do some fair and balanced commentating. You know where they don't slobber over east coast teams. That would be awesome.

And the Fox chicks make Andrews look plain.

Yeah, I hope the parent company that holds our Tier 2 rights crashes and burns.

    Re: News Corp planning network...

Isn't NBC looking to get a sports channel up and running in the near future as well? The Big 12 rights could be coming up at just the right time.

Also, I don't think it's a bubble. People will always want to watch sports live and that will drive up prices.

Yeah this would be awesome if Iowa State Tier 2 games would be on every TV set in the country that has the channel. Definite improvement over regional FSN networks. I'm all for another national sports network, especially one that will have college football/basketball
