*** Official Royals Fans Commiseration Thread***

So there was reason for hope at the end of last year. An offense that was above league average for the first time in years, a defense that finally had some legimately above average defensive players, and young talent across the board.

Now we are looking at Bruce Chen as our opening day starter, Luis Menblowza in the starting rotation over Felipe Paulino and/or Danny Duffy, Giavotella in Omaha and Getz starting at 2B because he apparently discovered the ability to hit the ball out of the infield over the winter, and Yuniesky Betancourt looking at 400+ ABs and who knows how much time at 3B once Moustakas gets off to that inevitable cold start. Plus, Soria is out for the year, and our young catcher we just signed long term is out with a knee injury.

If we face a lefty on opening day, we could easily be fielding a lineup with 3 sub .300 OBP guys in Quintero, Betancourt, and Escobar (the only one with any upside), and another sub .600 OPS guy in Getz.

We may actually be worse than the Twins this year. Hosmer, save us.

Don't act like you're not used to it.

Did they decide to keep Crow in the 'pen after Soria went down, or is he still a candidate for the rotation?

Crow is in the pen, and as you said, that move was made as a reaction to the Soria injury, I believe. Despite the fact that we have plenty of arms to throw in the pen. Broxton, Holland, and Crow all appear to be options for closer.

Re: *** Official Royals Fans Commiseration Thread***

Starting pitching still concerns me. Seems like we could be in real trouble if we have an injury or two in the starting rotation. We have a real defensive weapon for a catcher, so that is annoying he will be out the first part of the season. Key to this team is a fast start. I like how other fan bases doubt the Royals will start improving - I don't blame them, but it will be nice when we start pounding the Twins and White Sox on a nightly basis...

I'll be honest, I don't really follow baseball at all. The only reason I call myself a Royals "fan" is because they're close, & because it seems like they have hardly any fans...

I mean, gosh darn it! This sucks!

    Fixed it.

In all fairness, the Royals last year were their most exciting team to watch since the last century. Hope to see improvement.

And you just know Yost will give the ball to Broxton in the 9th rather than Holland, citing his experience as the rationale behind the decision.

    When will it end?

I do think everyone but the Tigers is pretty poor in the division. It may end up one of those years where Detroit wins the Central by 20 games, and everyone else is pretty close.

Well atleast there's hope in that we don't have Bob McClure as our pitching coach anymore.

The season hasn't started yet you can't dump them already, we are in
1st place. Doc I am telling you now that Mendoza will be the Royals
rep in the All Star game. The season will still come down to how the other
starters perform and if Cain can perform at a major league level.

Is this ******* little league? Go ahead in the Top of the 12th only to go BB, E-6, BB, HBP, HBP to lose?? Probably one of the more embarrassing losses I've ever seen.
