    The Atlantic doesn't know basketball

    link

Article calls Northwestern State over Iowa in 2006 the 12th "Greatest Buzzer-Beater in March Madness History," ...and has a picture of Will Blalock.

What the hell, let's go play 'em.

Maybe that's the only picture they could find with Northwestern St. from that season. Funny to remember our game against NWS that year. I'm pretty sure we only won by one and we were either given an extra point or they somehow lost a point - can't remember exactly what happened. Regardless, we were lucky to beat them and they were a solid team. I can never say anything about Northwestern St. to Iowa fans because they can always hold ******* against us.

*Edit: No excuse. Googling "northwestern state iowa" returns the following picture (as the 5th result), which is clearly the best picture to use for a best buzzer beater story.

The funny part is that it couldn't be a more straight on shot of the front of his jersey where is says in big letters "IOWA STATE".

Definitely lucky to win that game... ISU was awarded an extra point in regulation, and they won in 2OTs...

Yeah, and you can't even tell the defender is from Northwestern State. Massive failllllll

OK, we ended up winning by 4, but in 2 OT, so it was fortunate for us. Would've rather had that 3 taken away at KU than get this 1 point, but on rare occasions ISU catches a break.

The defender is clearly from NWS. Even if you don't remember us playing them in Hawaii that year, their logo is plain as day on the defender's shorts. Still pretty unforgivable to have ISU instead of Iowa.

Re: The Atlantic doesn't know basketball

I'm trying to figure out how the publication even came up with that photo. I think the defender is Jermaine Wallace, who ended up hitting the buzzer beater in the tourney, but I can't seem to find where that photo came from. I guess the Atlantic seems pretty reputable (minus having us instead of UI) so maybe they didn't want to just pull an image off of google and maybe this is tagged as Northwestern St. in their own archive. Someone probably just saw the word "Iowa" and thought it was the same team.

Re: The Atlantic doesn't know basketball

Blalock wore 11 and Stinson was 1, so probably it was Blalock with a haircut, but it does look a lot like Stinson.

Funny to see Ross Marsden started that game and Taggart and Stinson and Anthony Davis (2 brows) came off the bench.

2nd windmill of the day for a bleacher report columnist today, with the first being where they ranked us for football.

ROFL, no offense, but I guarantee you 99% of college basketball fans would have no idea this is Northwestern State's logo by just looking at it. Seriously dude, you call that plain as day? Most fans don't even know that college exists so they aren't going to know it's their logo in the first place. That logo could be mistaken for the Memphis logo (not the same colors, but close).
