    Amy Stephens resigns

I wonder what "different vision for the future" she had?

Interesting. Any details besides what's there in print?

    Re: Amy Stephens resigns

None that I can think of. It was a surprise to me. If she has indeed won the most games of any Valley team in the past ten years Drake should be happy with that. Won their tournament in 2007. I don't really think you can ask for more than that at Drake.

Maybe Stephens wanted to recruit borderline academic players or wanted better facilities that aren't coming?

That's coachspeak for "I thought I would continue to be employed here".

She's probably tired of poor attendance at their HS gym.

Drake women had 9 NCAA tourney appearances in 20 years before she took over....1 in 9 years while she was at Drake. And, they only made the NCAA that 1 year because Drake hosted the MVC tourney.

    Re: Amy Stephens resigns

Look for Jan Jensen from Iowa to be on the short list. She is an alum, and was there during their heyday. Another option could be Lisa Stone. She was loved at Drake and led them to the Sweet 16.

Color me surprised about Stephens, she has dealt with a ton of injuries over the years. However, for everyone that complains about our transfers, they need to look at her record, she's had a lot of players just disappear. This year Brittany McSperon was mysteriously booted off the team in February.

She'll land somewhere as an assistant, or may end up with a HC job at a smaller school.

    Re: Amy Stephens resigns

If Hatfield-Clubb follows her Phelps footprint she'll be looking for the best candidate she's comfortable with regardless of location. This hire could come from anywhere IMO.
