    Apocalypse

Hippies head for Noah’s Ark: Queue here for rescue aboard alien spaceship - Europe - World - The Independent
A rapidly increasing stream of New Age believers or esoterics, as locals call them have descended in their camper van-loads on the usually picturesque and tranquil Pyrenean village of Bugarach. They believe that when apocalypse strikes on 21 December this year, the aliens waiting in their spacecraft inside Pic de Bugarach will save all the humans near by and beam them off to the next age. As the cataclysmic date which, according to eschatological beliefs and predicted astrological alignments, concludes a 5,125-year cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar nears, the goings-on around the peak have become more bizarre and ritualistic.

    Re: Apocalypse

You'd be surprised at the number of posters here have previously stated their belief we've been visited by Aliens. I guess they won't have a problem believing they'll return.

Ha. You certainly got my attention with that thread title on the basketball forum. I was expecting something bad.
    Carry on.

This must mean we'll start the year with the best team we've ever had only to have the basketball season cancelled. (That's why this is in the Basketball forum right?)

The Mayans didn't account for leap year. The December 21, 2012 the were talking about has already passed.

    Re: Apocalypse

    CULT.

lol. Isn't that what Heaven's Gate basically did? They waited for a spaceship in a field one day/night and it never came, so the leader basically said that oh, we have to kill ourselves when Halley's Comet comes..that's where the spaceship will be.

I bet there's going to be a similar outcome when the world doesn't end on December 21st..the leader of their cult will make up some new **** and they'll all be screwed shortly thereafter.

Exactly right. All of that stuff is conspiracy-related garbage IMO. And if it happens, guess what? It happens.

    Re: Apocalypse

Actually that is wrong. We had to add leap year to our calendar because it wasn't as accurate as the long count.

Right. The Mayan Calender is more accurate but the question remains; does Dec. 21st on our calender match the apocalyptic* date of theirs.

    * Apocalyptic as interpreted by some individuals.

From what I understand there are interpretations that it's a cycle which we're already in and other interpretations that state the clock simply resets and nothing "happens" at all...

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was happily married and got more than enough to eat at home.

    Re: Apocalypse

The aliens aren't coming to destroy us. They want to transfer to ISU to play hoops. The bad news is that the transfers are only rated 2 stars. The good news is that they are over 14' tall.

    Trust in Fred.
