    ISU All-Time Elite 8 1) 99-00 vs 8)04-05

There was a suggestion on the other thread to start something like this up so I'll start it.

These are arguably the 8 teams that were the best in Iowa State basketball history...the seeding doesn't reflect the overall view of CF (obviously)

The first matchup is between the 1 seed 99-00 Cyclones (Fizer and TInsley) vs. 8 seed (Stinson and Blalock)

    1) 99-00 Cyclones....finished 32-5 (14-2), lost in elite 8 vs. Michigan St.

    Starters

    Jamaal Tinsley

    Michael Nurse

    Kantrail Horton

    Stevie Johnson

    Marcus Fizer

    Bench
    -------------
    Paul Shirley
    Martin Rancik
    Brandon Hawkins
    Richard Evans

    4) 04-05 Cyclones...finished at 19-12 (9-7)

    Will Blalock

    Curtis Stinson

    Rahson Clark

    Damion Staple

    Jared Homan

    Bench
    ------------
    Tasheed Carr
    John Neal
    Aaron Agnew

Pick who you think will win...the winner will advance to the next round.

    Closes after the 25th

Gotta go with the 2000 team. Unless Agnew starts.

    6. 1995-96

    2. 1996-97

I would think the 94-95 team would be in there somewhere (not that it matters). Meyer, Hoiberg, Michalik and a 7 seed would make it in over the 7 and 8 here I think.

No room for the team with the highest ranking in school history?

I feel the 04-05 team puts up a fight but the 99-00 team wins by single digits....

Thanks for taking up the project . (I wanted to do it but was afraid I wouldn't be able to follow through on the polling.)

I set up that seeding (per other suggestions for this type of "tournament") -- and I was torn between the 94-95 and 04-05.

This made it a little less clustered in one time period

    Re: ISU All-Time Elite 8 1) 99-00 vs 8)04-05

This would be a bad matchup for the 04/05 team simply because of Tinsley's ability to break the press. That pretty much neurtalizes the strength of the 04/05 team. I think Staple/Homan could contain Fizer down low to a certain extent.

Idea: Maybe you could do an edited repost in the intro, to show the entire field? Didn't think about it, some people might not realize overall poll.

Excellent work on the starting-five visuals for each team.

I agree with most of it...Eutachy>Morgan so that also gives them a big edge..

    Tinsley>Blalock
    Nurse<Stinson
    Horton<Clark
    Johnson>Staple
    Fizer>Homan

Would be interesting to see Fizer vs. Homan...I think if the 04-05 team pushes the pace it could be a close game but I still have the 99-00 team winning by 9.

Yeah, that's fair. We'll just have to expand the field next time.
