    Complicated analysis, I know.

Wait.... That can't be right. Everyone knows the "BIG" is the best conference... Why do they only have one team

That can't be right... The Big 10 should have at least 3-4 teams in the Elite 8. Recheck your math and get back to me.

It's true--the Big 12 has 100% more teams in the Elite Eight than the Big Ten.

And, 100% of those teams were beaten at least once by the Cyclones!!

Well, would ya look at that!
I guess I'm just confused that the best basketball conference in the nation only has 1 team in the elite 8.. Oh well.

If NC State made it to the Elite Eight, would you consider them a cinderella? Even though they're from a power conference, they are an 11 seed (like VCU last year and Mason in 06).

Re: Conference Representation in Elite Eight

Yet the Michigan schools were the only ones to fail to play to their seed. Purdue outplayed theirs (and nearly upset Kansas), and Wisconsin very nearly upset a #1. Plus Indiana had about as good of a showing as you can expect against Kentucky.

Was the Big Ten dominant? No. But it was deep as hell. That's why I only picked MSU and OSU to the Final Four in various brackets, and rarely did I have them both in. Wisconsin actually surprised me. I had them getting beat in the second round more often than not.

25% of the teams in the Elite 8 are from Big 12 and 12.5% are from the Big 10.

As much I enjoy seeing the Big 12 do better than the Big(10) -- the tournament only measures individual team match-ups -- some teams match up better than others. How else can you explain that ISU has defeated two teams in the elite 8 and Iowa 0? Iowa won two against Wisconsin and split with Indiana and lost big to Ohio State the only survivor. But some of the close games between KU and NC State, Kentucky and Indiana, and Baylor and Xavier very well could have gone the other way. Let's just enjoy for now -- and join the elite 8 next year. Cheers!
