High-flying Hawk triple jumper stays grounded

This story appeared in today's DI. Please don't move to ISR; I'm posting this more for feedback on the quality of the piece, rather than discussion of the subject matter. And it's track. Don't figure there's much trash talking that would go on, anyway.

Hawks tell us we have no future, and we let you know what we think of Hawk fans, which is a lower opinion all the time. CycloneErik 7/25/2011

With the exception of tm3308. He is a good contributor on this site. It is almost to the point that I question if he is actually a hawk fan. -- Cyclonestate78 7/25/2011

He broke the mold. If he wrote the OP, I would have read the whole thing. CycloneErik 7/25/2011

That is a great article and it makes me proud that there are student-athletes with this type of hunger. I may poke fun at the Hawkeyes from time to time, but I respect that school as well as any school in our state. Most would have given up when the clearinghouse forced them to go the JUCO route. It takes a dedicated person to keep fighting and that was good to read. Thank you.

You didn't know my high school track team. There were a couple guys that ran their mouths constantly. The funny part was, they didn't even run varsity and were taking shots at state participants.

Lol, meant Iowa-ISU trolling. Mosts fans don't care that much about track. But believe me, I know all about the trash talking among the athletes.

Jamba might have something to say, but since this is on the main board, he won't see it.

I ran at the same time Marques Simmons ran for Davenport North. That guy was cocky - his warmups consisted of the issued sweat pants and a long sleeve T-shirt that read "I am Marques Simmons."

Nick Moser did beat him in the 200m at state his senior year, so that was nice.
