    E-Reader

Finally thinking about getting an ereader of some sort. Is a kindle the only way to go? With the issues that companies like Barnes and Noble are facing I am a little skeptical of getting a nook. So is a Kindle Fire the way to go?

    Any thoughts?

While I don't have a kindle, I do enjoy the kindle app on my android.
Not sure how much that helps.

I just have a regular Kindle, but I can't live without it anymore.

I think a Fire is a good tablet option, but I would go after something with e-ink if I was just wanting a reader.

    Re: E-Reader

Think about what you really want. Just an e-reader or a dumbed down ipad. You can get the Nook or Kindle basic versions for $100. If you are interested in the dumbed down ipad look at the Kindle Fire or the Nook Tablet.

I have the first version of the Nook. I got that instead of the Nook color (it was before the tablet) b/c I didn't want the back light on it. I love it.

Got my wife a kindle fire for Christmas. She thought it was stupid at first. That thing hasn't left her side since she got it

Thanks for the input. I do not have a tablet so the fire is definitely an option.

This is the way to go. It does one thing and it does it right.

Agree with this. I love the e-ink display for reading. I got a nook last August and love it.

I've got a wifi kindle and really like it. I use the kindle app on my touchpad quite a bit too. Can't go wrong with the amount of content for kindle.

It is too bad that there isnt a decent web browsing reader with e-ink.

Can e-ink update fast enough to make a meaningful browser? My impression is that it can't. I rooted my nook and have Opera on it, and it gets the job done (can check email and whatnot). More importantly, since the nook is based on android, once I rooted it I was able to install the CF application on it.
