Re: (Exclusive) Five Questions: With Fred Hoiberg

I like how Fred just comes right out and says that we are going to be good. I hate coaches that go with the "We have a lot of work to do" thing. Fred instill confidence in his players.

That is the 1 line I took from this as well. I love that about Fred. I have a feeling we are going to be "good" as long as Fred is our coach. Love it.

This. And when Fred says something like "We're going to be good next year," I believe him. I don't think Fred says much of anything that he doesn't truly believe.

Yeah, I think he has to keep building the excitement he has going right now. Fans are back and on board. Keep them going!

Love the insight to Lucious and Clyburn.

While losing White is a blow and coupled with the loss of Allen and Christopherson, great teams aren't great based on how much talent the lose from the previous year. Great teams are great based on the talent on hand.

Next year will still have plenty of talent and pieces to work with.

Another great interview Chris!!! This is why this site is so great. Keep it up. The only thing I might have liked is a question asking who or what type of player he might have his eye on as a possible replacement for Royce.

I'll tell you how he would have answered that...Something like:

"You can't replace Royce. Our team will be different next year, etc."

He's right. I mean, ISU won't need a point-forward next year. The point guard issue will not be an issue. No need to "replace" those things IMO.

That sounds almost word for word like an actual Fred Hoiberg quote. He stays pretty consistent with this stuff.

Not that I advocate this sort of thing, but I think people could essentially write a Hoiberg interview without speaking to him, and it would usually come very close to an actual interview.

Re: (Exclusive) Five Questions: With Fred Hoiberg

    Great Interview Chris, as always!

One thing that was a little confusing though.....he said something about Korie being very vocal when the team went on road trips. Korie and Clyburn did not travel on road trips, right? Maybe he meant it another way.

I love how confident he is about this team next year. I think FH pretty much tells it like it is without a lot of "coach speak" so this is encouraging. It will be very interesting to see how he mixes the lineups next year.

Re: (Exclusive) Five Questions: With Fred Hoiberg

Call me crazy but I expect this team to be better next year than they were this year with Royce. Royce's unique abilities were an asset to the team this year without a true point guard. Next year his unique abilities are not as much of an asset.

With that said Royce is easily one of my all time favorite players at ISU. The impact he has had on the program in 1 year is amazing. But let us all not forget guys like Christopherson, Garret and Allen as well. Especially Christopherson and Garrett who stuck through some tough years when it would have been easy to transfer out.

Since Scotty already transferred once, it would have been career suicide to do it again. But kudos to them all is still warranted.
