Wow, giving a lot love to the new guy and the new school at number two. Not saying that it isn't justified but it will be interesting to see how that team holds this season in the Big XII.

On what planet is Mack Brown a better coach than Bill Snyder?

Re: Athon Ranks Big 12 Coaches

Mack Brown at 4??! You gotta be freaking kidding. Wow. IMO good coaching is doing more with less, and if you're fortunate enough to have a lot, do something with it. Here's what I'd do..
    1. Snyder
    2. Patterson
    3. Gundy
    4. Stoops
    5. Briles
    6. Rhoads
    7. Brown
    8. Holgerson
    9. Tuberville
    10. Weis.

Snyder and Patterson are the clear 1-2 in my mind. They took programs that were nothing, and made them good programs. Hopefully in 5-10 years Rhoads can move up into that category!

I honestly don't know if there's a big difference between 1-10. Each coach has done a lot with what they've had to work with! (Including charlies entire coaching career)

Mack Brown is the best recruiter. Not the best coach. Other than that, I say it's pretty accurate.

It's pretty hard to not be the best recruiter when you are the head coach at Texas.

Looks like a pretty decent list though.

Re: Athon Ranks Big 12 Coaches

That's a ridiculously accomplished group of coaches. I would go like this (based on current ability, and not lifetime achievement):

    1. Snyder
    2. Patterson
    3. Gundy
    4. Stoops
    5. Holgerson
    6. Rhoads
    7. Briles
    8. Brown
    9. Tubberville
    10. Weis

No disrespect to Hoiberg, but this list shows how much better B12 football coaches are than its basketball coaches when a hall of fame coach doesn't crack the top 4.

Re: Athon Ranks Big 12 Coaches

We'll see what type of coach Briles is over the next few years. You can't win without talent, but he hasn't put together a winning season without RG3.

Well we all know how good Athlon is at ranking things...like how we're going to finish each season in fb & bb. Another worthless article.

Snyder is too low on that list. Otherwise it looks pretty good.
