Why Royce should stay one more season.

I believe Royce White should stay at Iowa State one more season. After reading Magic Johnson's auto biography recently, here are some observations

-Magic stayed an "extra" season in college instead of going into the draft. The Spartans ended up winning the national championship, and it was the "best year of his life."
-Johnson says in college a player has built in friends, both on and off the team
-In the pros, he called his first season the loneliest of his life and was miserable. You are on your own in the pros.
-Johnson says playing in college is fun, in the pros it's work.

For Royce, he is loved at Iowa State, is having fun and beating his anxiety. Another season, and he will be even stronger and ready to face the difficult challenge of pro ball.

No matter his decision, I wish him all the best.

Well there is no doubt that the Cyclone fans love Royce, and Royce loves Cyclone fans and Ames in general...

Not sure what decision he will make but I am just glad that he was able to get a second chance and succeed exponentially with his second chance....

His story is truly worthy of someone that is a Cyclone. His heart, drive, character, and personality is everything we embody as Cyclone fans.

My all time favorite Cyclone on and off the court for sure. Regardless of his decision.

Give it a rest. He needs to listen to what Fred thinks is best. That is all

Re: Why Royce should stay one more season.

There is allot of truth to this. There are risks but at what point do kids get to play the game for the love of the game. He is better off staying one OR MORE years. Look at what he has the potential to gain. He has the potential to be one of the best college basketball players to go through ISU and thats saying something. Having your jersey hang from the rafters and college ball. There are tons of players that stay for the love of the game and team. It seems like Royce is this kind of kid. Seems intelligent so grades are not a negative factor forcing him out.

Re: Why Royce should stay one more season.

Unfortunately, the reasons for Royce to stay are dwindling. Mostly it is just because I want him too. :)

My guess is that his heart wants to stay and his head thinks he should leave. The smart move is to probably leave.

I wish him the best no matter what he decides. He has been a class act and a joy to watch.

I just don't get this vocal pessimism that pervades the forum. It's not as if after the past week everyone is projecting him in the top 15 of the draft and it's a no brainer that he'd leave.

The media attention he drew last weekend is what has these people scared. Coupled with the dominating performances against high level talent.

I agree we are taking it a bit far but he could very well be the difference maker in a season similar or less than this year to a legitimate Final Four contender.

Therefore ill let the fanbase worry juuusst a little bit.. No sarcasm intended

I don't even know if it is b/c what we could or couldn't do next year with Royce. I think it has to do with we may never see another player like him at Iowa State.

I've been trying to tell myself that for a while now......I can't help but hope that he does stay though!

One thing that I have thought about is the year that Brackins decided to stay. It sucked that next season when he struggled and Iowa State sucked. I felt terrible that his draft status was somewhat hurt by staying. Of course, I don't anticipate the same type of problems if Royce stays, but the team will be different and he probably won't have the same impact with a real point guard on the team.

However long this decision takes, it's going to feel like a long, long time on here.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

IMO it's not pessimism but realism that it is more likely he will leave. The blind optimism that is all over CF right now regarding Royce coming back will hurt that much more later if those who disagree are not vocal about it now. I believe that most signs point to RW leaving. That is my objective, non-ISU fan observation.

Why not be optimistic? All the fans are crossing their fingers because they think having him back will help take Cyclone basketball to a higher level for years to come. And we like his story, personality, game, and genuine character.

If he goes pro now, it is the safe option for him and nobody is gonna hate him for that (not sure what signs you are seeing). As a non-ISU fan observation, I think he will make a lot more money in the NBA if he waits.

Brackins turned down a lottery pick for absolutely no effing reason, so anything is possible.
