Seattle Seahawks sign QB Matt Flynn

Seahawks sign Matt Flynn for three years, $26 million

Good lord, $26 million for two career starts and nine career touchdown passes?

    Rob Johnson, anyone?

Wow. The Dolphins were after him supposedly after Manning turned them down. That's some serious money.

I'm so close to just picking a midwest team to follow. Completely embarrassing that an NFL team can't buy a single serviceable QB for over a DECADE!!

I think they end up with Alex Smith. Hopefully my 9ers get Peyton, or they will be screwed at QB if Alex signs elsewhere beforehand.

Try not having a serviceable quarterback for the span of an entire franchise.

The current Bears career leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns played from 1939 to 1950.

Dan Marino's 420 passing touchdowns alone tops the Bears 5 highest touchdown passers combined.

Matt Flynn is A.J. Feeley part 2. I am glad the Dolphins didn't sign him. Matt Moore played very well the last 4 or 5 games. However, now that Marshall is gone, the Dolphins have no wide receivers. Bess is a slot guy and Hartline is more of a 4 or 5 type guy. They are going to have another bad season.

McMahon? Harbaugh? Cutler? Quit being overdramatic.

Either you don't know the definition of "serviceable" or you're confusing "serviceable QB" with "franchise QB." I will give you the Bears haven't had a franchise QB for as long as anyone remembers, but they have had PLENTY of serviceable QBs.

First, McMahon and Harbaugh both only played 7 seasons in Chicago, then play 8 and 7 seasons, respectively, elsewhere following their time in Chicago.

McMahon threw 67 touchdowns in the 66 games he played for the Bears.

Harbaugh threw 50 touchdowns in the 89 games he played for the Bears.

Can .56 to 1 touchdown pass a game even be considered serviceable?

Cutler has the potential to be a serviceable to franchise quarterback for the Bears. 63 touchdown passes in 41 games (1.54 touchdowns/game). All Cutler has to do is throw 6 more touchdowns to move into second on the Bears all-time list in touchdown passes.

I think Flynn will be very good as a starter, but I'm not sure he'll do well in Seattle. Thought Miami or Arizona would have been a great fit for him.
