Recruiting in the state of Florida

If you subscribe to Sports Illustrated, make sure to read the article on South Florida in the issue for the week of 10-22. It brings up an interesting point. With South Florida's recent success and teams like Florida Atlantic beating Minnesota and Central Florida barely losing to Texas, it could soon be the case that FL recruits choose to play at one of the so-called "lesser" FL schools. I think that it is definitely going to become tougher to snag 3 star kids out of FL. I think we may lose a few to USF.

    Any thoughts?

On a side note and a total what if, it would be somewhat poetic justice for USF to win the national title andfor Mac to get a championship.

USF might not get past Rutgers tonight. That fake punt was nice, but im really pulling for USF. Looks like Rutgers is gonna try to run the counter w/ Rice every other play.

ISU has been recruiting against USF for quite some time, at least DMac did. I would track who we were recruiting and it always amazed how many of the kids had USF listed among the several schools with interest. I do not know if they ended up getting the kids or not just noticed the trend.

The way the South Florida players acted last night I hope we are not recruiting the same kids. Lots of jaw jacking and waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy to many late hits. They reminded me of the Miami teams of the 90s- a bunch of thugs. Goes ot show that Dan has a relativley small role on that coaching staff.

Not gonna disagree with ya too much, but, i think a defense that has a lil of that thug mentality plays harder, better and with excitement - isnt that what defense is all about.....

As long as it don't go too far, it can definately be taken over the top.....

But the brashness, attitude and excitement and even a late hit from time to time is not necessarily a bad play...If it sets a tone for the game and lets someone know that your not just gonna come in and do what you want, i would have loved a de-cleater on crosby last week as he crossed the middle of our defense over and over and over.....

We need that attitude back on our defense - right now their passive......
